Huh? Why? I have to think coaches have opinions of other coaches. When MC was hired, there was a poster that claimed he knew or spoke to an NFL scout that spoke highly of how Mario's kids were coached. The fact that UGA is taking our cast-offs suggests to me that Kirby believes that the kids have gotten some coaching and may have some value.
I mean, would you see Kirby taking DT projects from Manny?
Or they are just desperate for big body DL depth since they are linked to like 8 kids and this is a kid they are very familiar with him since he is from GA and they recruited him (not offered) out of HS?
Dude, I have no clue about UGA's situation. My point was, that for quite a while recruiting, development and coaching has been an issue here. If Kirby, who I assume knows Mario or of him from the Bama connection, takes a flyer on a Mario kid, that should mean something.

The way they recruit it is surprising to me.
Have they missed on some kids evaluations? Have they been hit by too many portal departures? Honest question. I'm just surprised by that.

lol. I don’t even count him on the team. It’s the 3 starters, Jones and Simpson. Russell is a scholarship expansion player (85 to 105 allows us to keep guys like him) and Newton is a flyer we may see something from 2-3 years from now.
