Early Enrollees update (12-14)

A lot of you have been asking about January enrollees in this recruiting class, so here is what I have gathered over the past few days. None of this is set in stone with some prospects relying on passing certain courses or achieving test scores/GPA.

I think Steed will red-shirt. Not saying he isn't talented, but the kid just had surgery to repair a torn ACL a week or two ago. Personally I'd like to red-shirt him so he doesn't rush back and set himself back.

Lets not rush him, agreed.

Generally speaking though my perspective on red shirting has changed. I want to play as many kids as I can. The redshirt is important for QBs. The shirt benefits both the OL and DL, but OL more. Everyone else I could care less if we shirted or not. Don't get me wrong, there may come a time where we don't need frosh at every spot, but now we do.

my view has evolved as well. if a kid is a stud, play him. he wont be sticking around for that 5th year anyway if he's worth anything. and if we have kids sticking around for their 5th year and not going pro, id hope we have someone younger and more talented to play instead. this is miami.

Bump. Pete, has anything changed? We need Dallas, Gibson, Carter, Jennings and the OL to all get here as soon as possible. Wish Bandy and Njoku could make it, we will be incredibly thin at WR and CB for spring ball.

Would that hurt our chances with DJ? I think he is one of the most important recruits in this class and Washington was going in hard for him.

Agree that DJ is a real talent, but Garvin's tape show's he's as talented or even a step above DJ//

Getting Gibson and Carter as EEs is huge. Both will see playing time and one will potential start (Carter)

This is huge! Too bad Bandy can't come early. Looks like safety depth will be okay, even though replacing Jenkins will be tough I think we'll be fine there with current guys and A Carter and Gibson both coming in early. CB is another story, especially if Redwine slides. Not having Bandy or Dean early is going to hurt, even for practices.
