Early Enrollees update (12-14)

A lot of you have been asking about January enrollees in this recruiting class, so here is what I have gathered over the past few days. None of this is set in stone with some prospects relying on passing certain courses or achieving test scores/GPA.

Neither will make a difference for either. The regular season is done and more than likely kids have seen a great sample of the schemes and they way the teams play. Also have good ideas of depth charts and how they will be used.

EEs that can play early IMO -

Amari Carter (Possible Starter at SS)
Navaughn Donaldson (Possible Starter at RT or LT)
Billy Gibson (Early PT as a backup and on Special Teams)
Deejay Dallas (PR or KR, and CB depth)
Steed or Jennings (Special Teams and LB depth) - Maybe one of them red shirts

I think Steed will red-shirt. Not saying he isn't talented, but the kid just had surgery to repair a torn ACL a week or two ago. Personally I'd like to red-shirt him so he doesn't rush back and set himself back.

Lets not rush him, agreed.

Generally speaking though my perspective on red shirting has changed. I want to play as many kids as I can. The redshirt is important for QBs. The shirt benefits both the OL and DL, but OL more. Everyone else I could care less if we shirted or not. Don't get me wrong, there may come a time where we don't need frosh at every spot, but now we do.

YEAAAHHHH!!!! We'll have a stud starter with a #2 who is an actual and legitimate game breaker in Homer, who will be backed by another game breaker and a bruiser in Burns who reminds me of a slightly smaller and faster Jerome Bettis.

I'd take it easy trying to figure out the starting order. Coming in to this year there was all kinds of speculation about who was the #1 back. Most assumed Yearby would get most of the carries as a returning 1k yd back, and some thought Gus would show up big. I assume Walton will be the guy, but I doubt Richt is afraid to play a younger guy in front of him or put Burns in front of both he and Homer. Not likely, but entirely possible.

Njoku leaving and Haskins has been in the doghouse since he's been here and may be moving to the outhouse. Polendey will likely play in a limited role.
