Come At Me Lets Go GIF by Yellowstone

Go back and read my posts carefully! We had to go in and pay a settlement last minute to make this work. How much did it cost us $$ wise? I wasn’t against a portal guy. Just a lock it in earlier in the process especially since we were in the playoffs. Shouldn’t have to be dealing with a portal QB issue during the same week as a National Championship game.

I stand by what I said - not the ideal sustainable process (although 3-3 is not bad). It didn’t work this time in terms of getting Simpson to pull out (that’s what she said) from the draft and we almost had to bring in a problem child (Leavitt).

I am still a believer in developing your own guy at some point with multiple years of playing time, like ND with Carr.

It’s likely we will be in the same spot again next year.
If there's a year to actually have a QB battle with the guys they brought in from HS itll be next year, I Tried telling ppl there's 0 chance Mario is going to follow up a natty run with Emory Williams or Luke Nickel but ppl wanted to complain anyway. its never over till the fat lady sings and we just got a grammy from the *****.

I don't recall the ball hitting the ground. I believe it was a lateral. The ball left his hands before the knee hit ground.

If there was review back then, knowing how capricious the refs can be, It probably would have given the league a last chance to reverse the decision.
My bad, meant it as a hypothetical to make a point to Dukies. As in, if it had been fumbled and Duke recovered, they’d justify it with the same picture by arguing Mark doesn’t have control when the knee hit.

Edited original for clarity.

****, why not just tar and feather everyone associated with the program. Send everybody to Guantanamo Bay and open up the gates of Tartarus.

Yeah, I love when someone invents a penalty 10x worse than anything the NCAA has ever doled out, and then acts like it could ever happen...

With the embarrassment of riches at WR and a relatively inexperienced OL, it will be great if we see a philosophy change in Dawsons offense. 10 and 20 personnel, RPO based. That will shred defenses.
Yeah I get why we went into this season just saying **** it we are going A gap until you stop it

It was the strength of the team before Toney emerged

It’s a little double edged sword. I’m not 100% sure Dawson is our coach next year (no inside info just saying there’s still time for movement)

You don’t get 4 years with an OC often unless you’re paying him crazy money. So on one hand the consistency is good but if a guy is an elite OC he probably moves on by now or is just getting mega money

Mensah is a game changer though imo. Not sure yet if he’s wired different upstairs like Cam was but my goodness at his age his talent is off the charts

Now you are definitely old!! lol

They don’t make movies they way they used to.

If you haven’t seen The Last of the Mohicans, @Da Jumbo Mutombo - I highly recommend it.

(My attempt to derail the thread into 90s movies)
The entire Leatherstocking Tales should have been made instead of just doing the one.

I'm pretty sure we didn't tamper with either Duke player. What makes the most sense is that Mensah's representation (and then Barkate's) reached out KNOWING how this game is played, so Miami wouldn't be chased away by legal action or punitive motions from the NCAA.

It's easy to cry "tampering" on the U, but I am pretty certain, that they, and Mensah's representation, understood the game and did exactly what was required to get this over the finish line.

All that stated, if they want to make Miami the big baddie again, bring it on!!
of course not.. Mario is no fool like Pete golden.

They are saying Mensah is trying to get another year as well, is that true? He wont stay anyway if he lights it up next season

I don't know that he "needs" to "try" to get another year, I think it's his no matter what.

Redshirt year
1 year playing at Tulane
1 year playing at Duke

I think he's got 2 to play, he COULD HAVE declared for the NFL draft.

I guess I’m not following you. On paper adding a “big name” makes sense. But on the field it’s not a necessity imo. We have a big name already. Adding Barkate gives you a guy who work the middle and deep intermediate portion of the field.

Adding a Cam Coleman would’ve been nice, but we’ve got the ACC leader and second place guy in receiving yards on next years team. Tangible proof that these guys have performed.
Wasnt even thinking Coleman as he was asking crazy price.. But a guy like Marsh would of been a good fit.. We need to take room to NFL level, its been toooooo long for us not to have a top NFL talent..

This is why Ben Swain is such a massive *****.

"Without the ability for us to replace them".

That's on Duke, brother. You should be recruiting players (whether from HS or Portal) every year. INCLUDING the players on your own roster, you gotta recruit THEM ALL, each year, every year.

If you don't think you can lose players...BECAUSE YOU HAVE MAGICAL CLAUSES IN NIL AGREEMENTS...you are sorely mistaken.

Wake up. Realize reality. And get back to work.
Yup if you were worried bout losing Mensah how bout you go get Seaton and Wilson to firm up his faith in your commitment to winning. Oh and pay the man while you re at it

At some point we do need to figure out our High school QB recruiting issues so we can have a multi year starter.
