I’m just not seeing Blount at DE… he was in the DT rotation all season and seems to embrace it. I think he’s your first guy off the bench DT for Scott or Moten.

But I will agree on heavier sets I can see him sliding to that 5 tech elephant whatever they call it to help set the edge while still having enough twitch to get upfield
Yeah weird names for stuff, that's been around forever.

It's an Odd front with a jack LB, think when Alabama had Will Anderson at end.

They had a Nose or 0Tech with two 5 Techs, with a wide 9 on which ever side, with two monster linebackers playing at 20 position (i.e., head up on guards with depth) with a "Sam" or "Nickel" LB/DB roaming around. Ideally you'd had a Strong Safety who plays the similar roles (like Jakobe Thomas) who likes to play downhill and thump. Think James Harrison LB with the Steelers. , he was a 5 tech!

Downfall of this is you give up big bubbles to the run game, and your NT has to be very stout, which we don't have, but it be a nice change of pace.
I wouldn't say this is a full changeover.
I like this style of defense he's running, its sound schematically most of the time and has answers for its own weakness.

From what he shows on film, he doesn’t really look like Mesidor or Bain. He looks like Jared Verse in those first movements. And, the idea is Taylor and Hetherman will get another level out of him.

Our pass rush next year has the potential to be even better than it was this year. It will look very different with two speed rushers coming off of the edges, but I think it will be very effective with Wilson and Lightfoot leading the charge. Sprinkle in Lowe, Scroggins, Ashari getting so reps. Yea I think the defense is gonna be just fine.
And then there's the pass rush up the middle with Moten, Scott, etc... Not just the DEs...

he's not bain, he more of a speed guy ... he's really good, unfortunately he's following the best DE we've had in recent memory ... happy he's with us
You mean ever , Miami has never had a better de than Bain

Moten isn't stout?

Good comp. I had always heard Robert Quinn when Damon was at Georgia

Herbstreit wants to know if he sets the edge and plays with physicality
