After an embarrassing loss, there is plenty of blame to go around. Embarrassment often leads to change and hopefully for us, this is the case. The extent of that change is TBD.
Anything in the athletic department starts and ends with Blake James. Manny Diaz is a success, James is a genius. Manny Diaz fails, James is fired (or at least should be for not conducting a real search). He was a year late in firing Al Golden and is 0-1 in his HC hiring with Richt not being what he thought he would be. Blake James’ future is tied to Manny Diaz. Next year will be year 3 and despite UNC, an 8-2 season is something to build off of provided Diaz makes the changes necessary.
@Canedog (CanesInsight): Eye’ve herd that wee shouldn’t take the vaccine four the Chi Com virus because it can chains yur DNA. If the vaccine can tern a person into a freakish mutant, why couldn’t it also chainge a person’s DNA in a positive way and make them skronger and bettor? If their is any chance the vaccine could change my DNA, and give me super powers, eye wood risk it. What dew ewe think about the vaccine?
People are going to have a tough decision to make. I’m a relatively young, healthy adult with no heart or lung conditions so I personally would not think about getting the vaccine until others do and I can see if it turns them into a mutant. If I was high risk, then I most likely would get the vaccine.
You bring up an interesting point though, why are all the side effects for medicines always negative? Take this if you have a runny nose but you may have explosive diarrhea. Take this if you have a headache and you may die of a heart attack. Why can’t they develop a cold medicine that also increases your "testosterone"?

You can never go wrong with high caliber firearms, but if you’re looking for a nice, lower risk investment than gold is your answer. Bitcoin did jump up this week and very well could be a high risk, high reward investment but I’m more of a safer investor. I would invest in a high caliber firearm to protect your gold.
@TheOriginalCane (CanesInsight): When will the UM BOT announce the search for a new university president?
This has the potential to have a big impact on the athletics programs for Miami. I don’t know if Frenk’s contract will be renewed but I think it’s safe to say while he was an upgrade from Shalalalalala, he may not be the president we need to take this program to the next level in terms of its investment to football. You hear a lot that Miami’s football problems go way beyond the HC and even the AD. Would a new President prioritize athletics and not settle for mediocrity? Perhaps but I would venture to guess, based on history, it would be more of the same regardless of the President.
@JD08 (CanesInsight): What's the story With Dr. Frenk? We haven't heard if his contract was renewed or not.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a sauce on the BOT but it would seem unusual to have a “lame duck” President right? Maybe Frenk doesn’t want to renew. Maybe the BOT doesn’t want him back with a falling ranking. Those rankings are trash by the way but I’m sure it’s something the suits like to brag about to their rich friends while sipping on expensive wine and indulging in their caviar.

It’s looking like the Cheez-It bowl as of now. It would be disappointing to see us decline the bowl invite and allow the season to end with the *** whooping that UNC delivered to us. I understand the players and even the coaches are exhausted from this Covid dominated season but if you are given an opportunity to play another game, why wouldn’t you?

Emotions are high after what we witnessed on Saturday night and I fully understand fans throwing in the towel. However, this team is 8-2 and while those 2 losses were non-competitive type games, this program has taken a step forward and improved in many areas. We, as fans, put a lot of time, energy, and money into Miami Hurricanes Football so it hurts when the team comes out flat and gets pummeled. I won’t tell you what to do with your feelings but I would recommend reminding yourself what’s truly important in your life and not letting the Canes negatively impact those aspects. Just know that we will win the offseason again and we can repeat this next year.

I thought I saw Javonte Williams run over a Car(ter) on my way to work but my eyes could have deceived me. What happened against UNC was one of the most pathetic games I’ve seen the Canes play in my lifetime. The players played bad, the coaches coached bad, and UNC did not let up and I don’t blame them. The LB core got exposed yet again and the coaches couldn’t come up with an answer to stop the same play UNC was running again and again.
Blake Baker and his defense lost any goodwill left that a portion of the fan base still had for them. I believe we all saw the red flags throughout the year and even after Clemson, most said well it’s Clemson that’s what they do. I don’t believe there is any coming back from this performance. Manny has to see that and know that his defense needs to be tweaked and the coaching staff overhauled. This isn’t a championship level staff. I know that because they would rather start 53 poor performance after poor performance after poor performance. Great teams don’t start and play guys just because they’ve been with the program for 5 years.
@GojiraCane (CanesInsight): If Jalen Hurts had elected to sign with Miami in 2019, what effect do you think it would have had on last season? My suspicion is that while we still likely lose to Florida and North Carolina, replacing Williams with Hurts equates to wins against Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and FIU. And a 9-2 Hurricanes squad heads into Duke with far more motivation, beating the Blue Devils as well. Does that mean Enos is still our OC, and that King still transfers?
A good QB changes the trajectory of any team/season. Jarren Williams, while talented, let the team down from a leadership standpoint multiple times last year. That doesn't happen with Hurts. If we end the season 9-2 last year, I highly doubt Manny makes widespread changes to the offensive side of the ball and all that momentum he built up in the offseason would have continued. Now, I think King is a smart guy and wouldn’t have come here to play in a pro style offense but we probably would have landed another portal guy or perhaps Jarren Williams would have learned from Hurts and matured into a legitimate starting QB. Eventually, Enos’ system would have caught up with us because we simply don’t have the OL to run that style of play. What happened last year was terrible but it was a blessing in that it forced Manny to bring us into the 21st century on offense. The offense took a giant leap forward statistically this year and I would expect more improvement next year if King comes back and the rest of the offense gets another offseason to perfect Lashlee’s system.
@GojiraCane (CanesInsight): Blast from the Past Question: Rusty Medearis - before his knee injury how high would Rusty have gone in the draft when turning pro?
Rusty was a stud. We talk a lot about what if’s as Cane fans because we saw a lot of promising careers end early due to injury or be permanently affected (not to mention those taken from us too soon), but maybe no player in Miami history had more taken from him on a football level when he hurt his knee back in 1992.
Rusty was an unstoppable force as a pass rusher, and no doubt would have only continued his assent to the elite of the college game had he been healthy in 92 and 93. He’d have entered the 1994 Draft as the #1 or #2 pass rusher available, with the only real competition being Willie McGinest.
Earliest he’d go would probably have been 4th to New England where Willie went (after Big Daddy Wilkinson, should have been a Cane-Marshall Faulk, and Heath Shuler). I want to say he’s have gone ahead of Trev Alberts at 5, just because Trev Alberts sucks. Worst case, he’d have gone 8 to Seattle to pair with reigning first team All Pro Cortez Kennedy instead of another DT in Sam Adams.
@GojiraCane (CanesInsight): Off Topic: Why is the Royal Navy experiencing flooding problems with both the Queen Elizabeth and Prince of Wales, and how long do you think it will be before the UK sells one of the carriers to India or France?
Their issues with flooding seem to be the result of shoddy pipe work in the ships. I can’t say I’m totally surprised, as I’ve long been in opposition to the British methods of shipbuilding. Sadly, this means they won’t be able to continue their very important actions, like randomly sailing around the ocean and looking at all of the places they used to have control over.
I think a sale is coming soon, simply due to the numbers. The man power of the British Navy dropped by nearly a quarter in the last 20 years, and there are 30 less ships than they had 40 years ago. The budget cuts in the BRN are consistent and debilitating, and there’s likely a point coming that they just wholesale accept that their significant influence over the sea has ended. People say the biggest enemy of being great is being good, and they might just give up when they realize soon that they’ll never be great again.
