Wasn't 90% of this board calling him LICE Harris as recently as signing day this year??? lol

Maybe not 90%, but there were many people unhappy about how the situation went public and his potential role in that.

Not really funny. Some Miami fans don't like when a recruiting pipeline school creates public negativity for the U, especially since the U cannot publicly respond.

Ice is here now. If he shows results, I'm sure we will be happy. Until then some are still wondering what he got us last time around.

Nature of the beast.

Impressive disaster contingency plan that Coach Golden had in place. Attention to detail and planning for unforseen events is a hallmark of a good leader.

"Man with a plan", only thing is plan needs some defensive modifications to succeed.

For those who are saying, "Can he even coach RBs?"
Realistically, as a running back you either got it or you don't, lots of the skillset is innate and a RB coach develop those tools that you already have as stronger.
The RB coach simply has to know the assignment that the RBs have on all the plays and have drills that accelerated those skills a RB has.
The only reason I know this is. I played RB at the college level, (in Canada) and coached it for 5 years.
The only time an RB coach can coach up a player as an RB is when you go from a downhill scheme to a zone blocking scheme in open space. The only difference is you have to teach either, hit the hole hard and fast (point of attack, ex. Frank Gore), or be patient wait for the blocks to develop and make one cut and go uphill (zone, ex. is Arian Foster)
He'll be more then fine since he has been coaching football for a number of years and RB coaching is usually the starting point for coaches when moving up the rank for a reason, if you've noticed.

I'm calling bull**** on this. The best RB coach we have had is Don Soldinger and why, he made our running backs, complete backs. They blocked their asses off when they weren't toting the rock.

Coaching Accomplishments

Coached Willis McGahee to a record season at UM in 2002 as the sophomore set single-season records for rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, total touchdowns, all-purpose yards, total points, rushing yards per game, rushing attempts, touchdowns in a game and 100-yard performances.
Instrumental in the development of 1999 first round NFL Draft choice Edgerrin James and subsequent draft picks James Jackson (2001), Najeh Davenport (2002), and Clinton Portis (2002).
Has produced 1,000-yard rushers six of the last nine seasons: Willis McGahee (2002), Clinton Portis, (2001), James Jackson (2000), Edgerrin James (1997 and 1998), and Danyell Ferguson (1995).

Prayers sent to the Barrow Family.

Sorry to see Coach Borrow go. "Family issues" is the canned response, so I wonder what's the real reason. Seems odd he would do this 4 days prior to camp opening. Looking at the positives, feel good about Hurlie assuming the LB coaching and local recruiting can only be bolstered with Kevin Beard coming on board.

They gave you the real reason. His mother is dying. Have you ever had to deal with losing a mother? If not I have and I can tell you that it is almost impossible to concentrate on work.

This becomes and increasingly difficult challenge with Barrow's position. Trying to coach, watch film, recruit would be **** near impossible. What if we had a visit or call scheduled for a recruit and Barrow had to leave because if Mother was having a terrible day and he needed to be there. Or him having to miss practices to tend to his mother.

With a Hurlie Brown coming over to defense I think the transition should be smooth. Not to mention it should help in nickel and dime packages.

Go Canes

Well stated.

Sorry, but it easy to see most of the participants who yell for these ex players to become coaches at UM maybe never played the game or surely never coached it. Not many big stars in any sport have made this transition. There are a few exceptions but most of them paid there due's in the system for a while.

Furthermore, if Ray was able to will his power and coaching ability to someone it would be his son. Love little ray but my guess good special teams player and career back up. Something's you can not coach they are born!
