With fall practice set to begin this weekend for the University of Miami, there will be a few major staff changes going into effect over the next couple of days. CanesInSight reported last night that Linebackers Coach Micheal Barrow would be stepping down from his role. Barrow had been at Miami as a coach since 2007 when he was hired by Randy Shannon and was retained by Al Golden in 2010. We are told that his resignation is family-related.
This morning, CanesInSight has learned that staff shuffling will take place in order fill the position left in Barrow's absence. Current RB Hurlie Brown is slated to shift over to the LB spot, current Miami staffer and high school football legend Tim "Ice" Harris will coach running backs, and former Miami WR and current University School wide receivers coach Kevin Beard will step into Ice Harris' role in football ops.
There were some questions when Harris was hired a few months back about whether he could be a position coach without a degree, but CanesInSight has been told that there is a clause in Harris contract that mandates he finish his degree by a certain date. The details have been worked out.
Stay tuned on CanesInSight for more on this story as it develops, but that is the latest.
