The Hurricanes have officially signed their quarterback for the 2026 class, Dereon Coleman.

A 6-foot-1, 165-pounder, Coleman makes up for the lack of frame with his ability to make any throw across the field — able to zip the ball and manipulate his arm angles at will.

This season Coleman has been lights out for his Jones side, racking up 2,391 passing yards and 25 touchdowns while only throwing one interception.

He’s able to navigate around the pocket well and escape with speed when needed, a real do-it-all quarterback.

With some added weight in college, the sky is the limit for Coleman as he could be the one to end Miami’s portal QB run.

I would say at the same age, Lamar Jackson and DC were about the same size and frame. Am I wrong?

Major difference is that DC throws a much better ball than Lamar at the same age.

Who did his WR Mills sign with?

Why not? CJ Bailey at NCST did it, came in at 170, up about 20 lbs and playing, and he’s a bit taller…

CJ gained a lot more 20lbs. During the game broadcast the announcers mentioned he weighed in at 218. Whether that is accurate or not the difference in him from HS and now was striking.

He seems like a legit 6’1. Standing next to Cam Ward he seemed like about the same height.

Height doesn’t matter anymore, multiple guys sub 6’0 have starred in CFB and been drafted in the NFL.

Weight is the concern. I think he needs to at least 25bs +

Love this kids arm and fearless attitude but man is this gonna work at Miami with his size? Obviously, he will be redshirted and can build his body but will he be able to see the field over our gigantic OL?
One of his OL signed with Colorado… 6’7 320.

No need to be sensitive… throwing lanes for 6’1ish QB aren’t that big of concern. His weight for durability long term would be a bigger concern
I agree with his weight concerns. I don’t believe for a second he’s 6’1. He’s closer to 5’10.

Likely true. He might be like Blackmon from FSU who was a legit stick figure. He needs to get on the HGH pronto

Put Malachi Toney at QB for the next 2 years-QB problem solved. Not kidding!

Sadly I have no expectations with him. I just don't see him starting here. I hope he proves me wrong.
Stop looking at measurables and look at his arm talent, football IQ, pocket awareness, pocket presence, accuracy, competitive fire and athletic ability. If you do those things, then you will see why the staff is so high on him.

I’m not a betting man, but if I was, I would bet that not only will he be our starting QB in the future, but he will be a star.

I hope your right, I really do. Hopefully he lights it up and proves all the doubters including myself wrong.
