Cam Vaughn commits to Miami

Cam Vaughn, a four-star Portal WR from West Virginia, has committed to the University of Miami.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound wide receiver from Villa Rica, Georgia began his career with Jacksonville State before following Rich Rodriguez to Morgantown.

In 2025, Vaughn appeared in 13 games for West Virginia and recorded 35 receptions for 541 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 15.5 yards per catch on a team that struggled to at the quarterback position.

Before arriving in Morgantown, Vaughn was one of the most productive receivers in the FCS at Jacksonville State. During the 2024 season he led the Gamecocks with 48 catches for 803 yards and five touchdowns, consistently serving as their top perimeter threat. His season included several big performances, highlighted by a nine-catch, 183-yard, one-touchdown outing in Jacksonville State’s Cure Bowl appearance.

Vaughn was a standout three-sport athlete at Temple High School in Georgia, lettering in football, basketball, and track. On the football field he was a do-everything weapon who played quarterback early in his career before moving outside. He was named his region’s Offensive Player of the Year as a senior after leading Temple to a playoff run while accounting for thousands of yards of total offense. In basketball, Vaughn was a starting wing known for his ability to play above the rim and defend multiple positions, and in track he competed in sprint and jump events.

Vaughn played with Miami safety Zechariah Poyser at Jacksonville State. Miami nickel coach Terry Jefferson was on Jacksonville State's staff at that time.

The Canes previously landed a commitment from WR Vandrevius Jacobs (South Carolina). Vaughn and Jacobs will work to replace CJ Daniels and Keelan Marion in Miami's WR corps.

Last year our WR4 had over 500 yards receiving, and that was on a team that thew the ball to TEs for 900 yards. This year's shallow WR rotation was an anomaly. I think there will be ample opportunities for WR4 & 5 to catch passes next year.

I wish this was still the reality, but it isn't, kids get a different opportunity or more money and they out, just like that.

Wait wait wait…why is Moore WR4? Staff gonna play those who deserve to play. Compete. Kamil Bonner was a portal guy who was brought in, and Wesley, Aguirre, and Chase competed and played over him. Charles Brantley was brought in, and didnt sniff the field.

Exactly..who was expecting a true frosh Mali to be our number 1 b4 spring camp ? Everybody assumed it would be jojo, the Karnley guy was brought in & left when he seen the writing on the wall, Brantley too ..we’ve bred a culture of competition & the best will play , period.

Im confident this staff is playing who gives us best chance to win. If Josh Moore is that dude, he gonna get his snaps. Anyone who is running from competition, or salty, is not what we want. Raise the floor and ceiling at every position.

Not just a highlight grab but it was insanely important to our season. If CJ doesn’t make that play there is a chance that DB houses it.

He brought a valuable skill set. Still don’t think he’s 100% healthy. His leadership has been invaluable. Made handful of big big plays that helped win games.
