Cam Vaughn commits to Miami

Cam Vaughn, a four-star Portal WR from West Virginia, has committed to the University of Miami.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound wide receiver from Villa Rica, Georgia began his career with Jacksonville State before following Rich Rodriguez to Morgantown.

In 2025, Vaughn appeared in 13 games for West Virginia and recorded 35 receptions for 541 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 15.5 yards per catch on a team that struggled to at the quarterback position.

Before arriving in Morgantown, Vaughn was one of the most productive receivers in the FCS at Jacksonville State. During the 2024 season he led the Gamecocks with 48 catches for 803 yards and five touchdowns, consistently serving as their top perimeter threat. His season included several big performances, highlighted by a nine-catch, 183-yard, one-touchdown outing in Jacksonville State’s Cure Bowl appearance.

Vaughn was a standout three-sport athlete at Temple High School in Georgia, lettering in football, basketball, and track. On the football field he was a do-everything weapon who played quarterback early in his career before moving outside. He was named his region’s Offensive Player of the Year as a senior after leading Temple to a playoff run while accounting for thousands of yards of total offense. In basketball, Vaughn was a starting wing known for his ability to play above the rim and defend multiple positions, and in track he competed in sprint and jump events.

Vaughn played with Miami safety Zechariah Poyser at Jacksonville State. Miami nickel coach Terry Jefferson was on Jacksonville State's staff at that time.

The Canes previously landed a commitment from WR Vandrevius Jacobs (South Carolina). Vaughn and Jacobs will work to replace CJ Daniels and Keelan Marion in Miami's WR corps.

Love the pickup. Brings true competition with Moore but I expect both of those guys to be rotated heavily if Moore progresses like we believe he should.

I want to spend on qb’s, protecting the qb and getting to the qb. This year’s team is the perfect example of what I’ve been preaching for years. Great trenches opens up everything. Why spend 3-4 million on a wr like smith when you can add 5-6 good starters for that? It makes no sense in a world there’s not endless money. More good players on a roster versus one great player with solid players.

I’d say a good chunk of the money goes to retention. Then add 8-10 portal.

We doubt this because we don't want it to happen, but now Moore is WR 4 again next year. I am excited about him and hope he stays and love the pick ups of Jacobs and Vaughn, but there are a lot of guys in that room who are going to want to play.

Film shows a kid that catches with his hands well, tracks well, and shows decent agility for his size. Plus he has stats to back it up. Even if say he doesn’t improve, he is a very good option as WR2 or 3 and is a legit option at the X spot.
