I'm building a database of athletic testing numbers for an article I'm writing and Blissett tests very well at his position. He tested as an 84th percentile athlete at the position and my database is heavily tilted to the ESPN300 etc. so that I'm getting all of the best players especially.

For Miami DT's that have tested, he finished in second place behind Gerald Willis (88th percentile).

Here are the players that weight 250+ pounds who ran a faster short shuttle than Blissett and his 4.40 short shuttle (my database started in 2014 when numbers became more available):

Derek Barnett- 1st round pick, All-American, and broke Reggie White's school sack record at Tennessee.
Solomon Thomas- 1st round pick and All-American at Stanford.
Joshua Paschal- Class of '17 player already starting for Kentucky and produced sacks against Tenn and Vanderbilt as a freshman.
James Lynch- ESPN freshman All-American last year for Baylor.
Gerald Willis- Miami's best DL and off to a crazy good start.
Rashan Gary- All-American at Michigan will be a very high pick this year.
Neville Gallimore- #11 on college football's "freaks list" at Oklahoma and looks to be a high pick.

That's it. That's the list.
The question is of all those guys you mention for the short shuttle, what percentile were they in overall at the position. Obviously Blissett would rank higher than Nesta in athleticism based on your post but where did Nesta fall percentile wise? Also are your numbers through the entire period starting from 2014 to present or is it a year by year ranking?

Wow. One of the most compelling tidbits I've read on here in a while. That's an exciting list.
there was a kid from NJ Thomas Carroll (JR Smiths cousin) that came in the year rolle, taylor, gore, and them did .i remember saying thinking him being top NJ player didnt mean nothing but he came down and started 3 years at DE.

The DE snaps are a good thing. Saw his film playing a lot of "Wide 9" as well. He looks solid at 270 (no bad weight) and has the frame to play at 290 -295. I think moving inside will be a good thing. Should have a lot of quickness at DT and still have the ability to play strong side DE in goal line situations.

I trust that the coaches (coach Simpson in particular) know exactly what their getting.

Four solid DT's this cycle and we're on our way.....All the way up!!!!
I think Holley and Blissett are ok gets, Munoz is very iffy, and Ingraham is a must get. I really hope we can pull some magic and get Davis. Or even have JJ Weaver as a SSDE/DT.

Derek Barnett- 97th percentile
Solomon Thomas- 99.5 percentile
Joshua Paschal- 99.1 percentile
James Lynch- 96.1 percentile
Gerald Willis- 88th percentile
Rashan Gary- 97th percentile
Neville Gallimore- 98th percentile

The percentile is for the entire period from 2014 through present. I tried to obtain all of the testing data for all players testing at The Opening Regionals etc. but many of the players test at Under Armour events and that information isn't shared publically in a database so I have to find it individually (hence me going through the ESPN300 players specifically). ESPN doesn't like for you to scrape their data from their website so they place it in a way that's more difficult to write code to get to it. I'm not that great at it, so I struggle with getting it all from them and have to identify players I want and therefore focus on P5 players.

Nesta was 67th percentile overall. 82nd out of 237 DT's listed.

A big premise of the article will be to identify the athletic testing for each position that correlates with All-Conference at each position for Power-5 conferences. I. E. 88% of QB's that were all-conference tested at least ________ in this category etc. But rather than give it all away since I've spent weeks working on it, I'll just say that Short-Shuttle is pretty dang important for DL.

Really??? That makes no sense to me, but I'll take your word for it. Go Canes!!

There's a lot about recruiting that on the surface doesn't make a lot of sense, but, from the perspective of these programs, it gives them an opportunity to make another pitch if he's at the top of their board. You never know, sometimes kids get dropped and they want to make sure the door is open if there's another opportunity. It even helps keep relationship open with a high school.

So this kid shows up at Paradise, does extremely well against the competition there, so much so that he got an offer, and you geniuses think you know better?

CIS always knows best. Especially the posters who are not in Florida.

Yep, Caroll was a solid player.

one thing is consistent. it seems like jess is a hardnose guy

Love the measurables and highlights. 6'4, 270, 4.40 shuttle is rare, plus he comes from a football family.

Not surprised that UF and Tennessee recently came through with offers.

yes it is.

with that frame, in 18 months time he could easily be a solid 280-285 and we'd be on our way from there.

if i put my "old school" hat on, he reminds me a bit of Jimmie Jones.

let's hope that's a good comparison!

Ok im going to need you to post info like this waaaaaaaaay more often

Position of need for sure this kid can definitely put on 20 or 30 pounds of muscle he has ok feet think we will have a baller in a couple years!

Good pickup. I think he's easily the best of the 3 DT commits, and it seems like he's going to keep growing and filling out. Pair him with Ingraham and I'll be happy with the DT haul, especially given the lack of local talent at the position this year.
