BREAKING: 2025 SF Shelton Henderson commits to Miami; Second highest ranked recruit ever
Miami has landed a commitment from the second-highest ranked recruit in its history. Five-star small forward Shelton Henderson announced his decision to join Jai Lucas and the UM basketball team on Sunday.
Shelton chose the Hurricanes over offers from Duke, Texas, Texas Tech, Louisville, DePaul, Houston, LSU, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, SMU, TCU, and Texas A&M.
On Thursday night, Henderson announced on social media that he had requested and received a release from his National Letter of Intent with the Duke Blue Devils, which he had signed last November.
According to the 247Sports 2025 Rankings, Shelton Henderson is ranked at the No. 21 prospect in his class, and is the fourth-best small forward, and is the top player in Texas.
Lucas and Henderson are from Texas and even attended the same high school at Bellaire Academy.
After leading Bellaire Academy with an average of 22.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and four assists per game, the Houston area honored Shelton as the Guy V. Lewis Award winner. Henderson is also a defensive bully.
Henderson joins four-star guard Dante Allen and Slovak small forward Timotej Malovec in Miami’s 2025 recruiting class. Miami is also in the mix for European Harun Zrno, who came off a visit to Miami yesterday.
