I'd say he's firmly in the third group.

Maybe he won't become a starting NFL running back. But then again, nobody in that group did, either. We can put Mark Walton in his own tier above them.
Walton always seemed to disappear when he wasn't facing lesser competition. Any time he played in a P5 conference game, he was painfully average

You should post a poll. I saw the replay; it hit him in the chest. Whether the DB tipped it or his arm blocked his vision, that ball bounced off #3, and he should/could have made the play just like #7 did for the 1st TD of the game.
We can agree to disagree. I saw it bounce off the defender's arm. Could/should he have caught it is a different question. As others have said, he could have blocked out the guy and attacked the ball more. I bet he thought he had one more extra step on the defender than he actually had

Can we at least agree now that I watched the game?

It hit him right in the chest.
From what I could see and the one replay, it didn't look like the defender actually got a hand on it. But I guess one of you sleuths can do super slow mo or screenshots or something.

Eh.

He's ok. We are going to him as a gadget guy and some short stuff. Maybe some limited things down field...but hes not the answer here.

His speed has to be respected though. That's often enough. Just a slight hesitation by the cover, and Beck can option off that.

He's got speed and its no disrespect to Marion...but he's a career 14ypc guy, and most of that damage was at UConn where his speed would be noticeable. Maybe we get a bomb or two out of him this year where Beck has him on a rope downfield, but don't think any team is going two high shell to account for Marion. Nice role player to have, but not what I mean with a guy that can take the top off. I think he's more of a short area explosion and get to green to show his speed kind of player, not the downfield threat this offense is missing to keep everyone honest. If that happens, its Dawson scheming this man open downfield. But I'd expect more end arounds, gadget gimmicks, and a little creativity with him moreover running 9s and deep posts, things of that nature.

I know he came to Miami to expand his portfolio, so let's see if he's capable. Dawson knows how to get guys open. The talk during camp was that Josh Moore was a long strider who could also beat the press and force a cover over. Maybe that's too optimistic. Wish Spafford were on the team right now.

Why is Mario seemingly the only coach that does not get in the refs faces? Have watched numerous games this season and other coaches constantly chirp at officials
