Leavitt gave a number. Miami met the number.

Instead of signing, his camp called around and asked if someone would beat that. Which seems to be the case if we don’t feel good
To me I’d tell the kid to kick rocks at this point. I get needing a QB and all that, but if the kid doesn’t turn pro next year, we’d just end up being held hostage. That juice isn’t worth the squeeze imo.

If true, not have true professional representation is going to cost him, if not this year, in the NFL draft process and league
Only possible situation, deal was done early Saturday. It’s now Monday and nothing announced. Desperation will cause some to panic, and Miami playing in natty in 7 days. I don’t think UM panicking or playing the back and forth game here

If that's the case they should have not zeroed on him, you can do what you're saying only if you have a valid alternative.

And maybe they have (I hope).

Maybe it wasn’t a good idea zero in on a player where his brother who has pimping to the highest bidder without a back up plan
I mean, name a different one? Soresby and the dude going to IU were locked up nearly immediately. Maybe you could say Raiola, but he took one visit and then committed.

The difference between Ward, Beck and Simpson is that Simpson has a legitimate first round grade. The other two did not.

Leavitt going to Tenn is silly. That offense doesnt prepare you for the NFL. Rocky top is cool and all that, but if you have serious professional aspirations, youre putting yourself behind the curve.

If you listen to D$ and Pete's podcast this morning, they both allude to schools not liking how this situation is being handled. We have heard the rumors about his brother being his agent and his outrageous demands so that could be the reason.

Why is everyone assuming we don't have a backup plan? I'm done doubting Mario. I'd say there is pretty much a 0 percent chance Emory leads us out of the tunnel vs. Florida A&M.

Waited too long to enter the QB sweepstakes, and only brought one in on a visit leaving us little flexibility or options. Now we’re being held hostage.

I’m not going to knee jerk react to this. If this was a situation where there wasn’t any back up plan, I unfortunately think we’d get into a **** sizing contest. You don’t get down to us and Tennessee based on pro trajectory and on field sustainability. It’s purely money.

Because there's currently no backup plan in the portal. It's still possible we have a backup plan, but it's not observable.

People forget that if Beck didn't have a change of heart, Emory would have been leading us out of the tunnel vs. Notre Dame. We've been playing with fire.

NIL has changed the calculus of that. Someone like Leavitt may realize he is a great college player but not a great NFL prospect and his pay day is in college. This kid could make life changing money the next two years and still give the NFL a try and if it doesn’t work out he is still rich.

This isn’t true. Miami was in it for Sorsby from the jump. We had conversations with his agent the moment the portal opened up…. Tbh Leavitt was the backup option

Sure would have been nice to have a little distraction before the Fiesta Bowl to secure a QB, rather than have a big distraction before the National Championship game while searching for a QB. And potentially having to shut the process down and start over Jan.20th now that all the options are gone.

One thing I cannot figure out is what's the holdup?

I guess one option is that Miami/LSU/Tenn are still actively bidding.

Another option is that Ty Simpson is seriously considering coming back to college, and Tenn and/or Miami is unwilling to take Leavitt until there's finality with Simpson.
Our last two QBs declared for the NFL draft before coming here.

I hope u are right but i dont see it simpson is guaranteed 1st round pick even tho he not ready or that good yet its just such a weak class a team will take their chance
Think I agree. Cam could've fell to 3rd in a deep class. There's no one this year, esp if chambliss gets a stay and dante comes back.

Even if simpson stays, there's no guarantee he goes from late first to top10

Has Heupel had any QBs that have been successful in the NFL?

You don't start anything after the 20th.
