Arizona State QB Transfer Sam Leavitt Signing With LSU

As reported by ESPN, the top quarterback in the transfer portal, Sam Leavitt, is reportedly signing with Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers after visiting several other schools.

The news came from ESPN's Pete Thamel, who mentioned on Monday morning that Sam Leavitt is likely to choose the LSU Tigers over other schools like Miami, Kentucky, and Tennessee, where he also took visits.

During the 2024 season at Arizona State, he passed for more than 2,800 yards, threw 24 touchdowns with just six interceptions, and added over 400 rushing yards along with five rushing touchdowns. Even though his 2025 season was cut short by injuries, Leavitt remained effective. He threw for over 1,600 yards, completed 10 touchdown passes with only three interceptions, and rushed for an additional 300 yards and five touchdowns.

Now, Miami will need to focus on finding a new quarterback. Whoever they target, they will likely pursue hard after missing out on the top quarterback.

This situation is disappointing... But we’ll see who steps up next.

Leavitt just completed a visit to us after blowing off Lane at a Knoxville airport. During his visit with us, two outside wide receivers committed. The other teams that Leavitt has been connected to (Oregon, Tennessee, and LSU) are now being connected to three other QBs (Raiola, Pribula, and Longstreet).

We can offer Leavitt a **** load of money, a preseason top 5 team, favorites to win the ACC, CFP darlings, the city of Miami, a friendly offensive system, a great OL, a stable of RBs, Toney, and the best collection of FR WRs in the country.

If you were to put all of those things into a pot what would be the product?

I agree we're the most logical option. LSU wants Leavitt over the other QBs they're chasing, though, so that's the other option he's probably also seriously considering.

I think we pull it off, but it's recruiting, so there's no guarantee.

Cam had a rotator cuff tear that, IMO, was far more damaging for his career than the lisfranc.

Pats used him as a battering ram and he could still run and move very well. But his arm was completely shot.

It’s a difficult injury to rehab even w modern medicine!!!!
