Arizona State QB Transfer Sam Leavitt Signing With LSU

As reported by ESPN, the top quarterback in the transfer portal, Sam Leavitt, is reportedly signing with Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers after visiting several other schools.

The news came from ESPN's Pete Thamel, who mentioned on Monday morning that Sam Leavitt is likely to choose the LSU Tigers over other schools like Miami, Kentucky, and Tennessee, where he also took visits.

During the 2024 season at Arizona State, he passed for more than 2,800 yards, threw 24 touchdowns with just six interceptions, and added over 400 rushing yards along with five rushing touchdowns. Even though his 2025 season was cut short by injuries, Leavitt remained effective. He threw for over 1,600 yards, completed 10 touchdown passes with only three interceptions, and rushed for an additional 300 yards and five touchdowns.

Now, Miami will need to focus on finding a new quarterback. Whoever they target, they will likely pursue hard after missing out on the top quarterback.

This situation is disappointing... But we’ll see who steps up next.

I agree 200%. We should take Leavitt, the bird in the hand and plenty good enough to win, over a guy who may be available if he doesn’t like his draft grade.

Plus we’re a running team first exactly why Indiana is going to be in a dog fight with us and not with dog walk us like Oregon .

Watching his highlights and I noticed his TE Chamon Metayer has a similar build to Lofton. I think Lofton is listed smaller but I think he can play like Metayer did for ASU

metayer (our former commit) is listed 6'4 255. lofton lookin like he 6' 260.

They will both compete in Spring and then the staff can determine if for 2027, one of them can be the guy. If not, portal again.

Watching the highlights Metayer didn’t really look that tall, but they schemed up some nice plays for him. I can see Lofton in the same role for Leavitt

Pete & D$ later said that it could all be bull**** from their old teams.
