Apparently he has the talent but is very undersized currently. They'd need to throw him on test, deca, dbol and tren ace, then have him eating 6-7k calories daily, lifting 4-5 hours per day the entirety of the spring and then he'd be ready imo.
dereon got hit in the state game by a hs dl and they had to scrape him off of the ground with a shovel. Hes 160 pounds and needs two years of s&c

Focus on portal QBs they said…..

For the life of me I can’t understand why people thought he was on option.
Or still believe he is.

Never seemed like a kid to go to Miami anyway, and yes this is a mistake if he cares about a successful NFL career.
there are only a handful of franchises that can develop a "rookie QB" Ried KC, Shanahan SF
Ben Johnson Chicago,Liam Cohen Jax, Shane Stiffen Indy, to name a few but if he falls McVay in LA Rams would be a great destination,,,,,thoughts we had a shot

Idk why you guys think it ain't gonna be Emory or nickel at this point but you guys keep thinking different lol

Australians got any punters that can throw? How about the Canadian league?

Haven't seen this much this disdain and dismissiveness from our CIS quarterback gurus since that local kid at Cal entered the portal 13 months ago

Another day, another name off the quarterback list for Miami...

Ty Simpson, the starting quarterback from Alabama, who made the choice to declare for the draft last week, is officially submitting his paperwork for the NFL Draft, as reported by BamaOnline.

Ty Simpson is now officially heading to the NFL. So, where will Miami turn next?

In fact, Simpson received several offers worth over 7 figures from Power Four teams, including a whopping $6.5 million from one school, according to various reports. AL.com’s Nick Kelly was the first to report these offers. He declined them and is now officially entering his name into the Draft.

Now, after yesterday's news that Sam Leavitt has gone to LSU and Alabama's quarterback Ty Simpson is officially entering the draft, Miami will need to search for someone else in the portal, or should the Hurricanes stick with their current quarterback roster room?

I’m not sure, but we’ll have to wait and see.
2nd round incoming

I’m wondering if this playoff run changed Mario’s feelings on getting a big money portal QB. Only in the sense that we’ve primarily won by playing dominant defense, running the ball, and having the QB manage the game while occasionally challenging deep but mostly short routes. I’m not saying I agree with this thinking, but I do wonder if that has played a small part in our lack of “enthusiasm” this year in the QB market.

Nah. We reportedly offered Simpson $6.5m to play here next year. We offered Leavitt a bunch of money too. He knows he needs a QB.

Reportedly. That’s not the gospel truth that you’re basing your opinion on.

If that’s the case Mario is a fool.

I don’t think so.

Quibble about the accuracy of the $ amount if you want, but we 100% tried to get Simpson or Leavitt to be our QB next year.

Here in lies the argument about the yearly cycle of a portal qb as opposed to signing better HS qb's. 5 star QB's are ridiculously expensive and you may never see any dividends from them, so I get not wanting to go that route. However, the upside is that often they bring others along with them, like stud WR's or OL...but we're getting OL anyway.
I'd like to see us bring in the number 8-12 ranked QB's. More tools that can actually play here....OR... it would be nice if we could hit a homerun with our evaluation of a QB. You see studs come out of these small schools all of the time. It would be nice to hit on either option and have a 3 year starter.
