I know how crazy this sounds but ill take Kinchens over Williams. I know Williams has crazy upside but I doubt he finishes his career as a safety. Plus a real red flag to me, in the era of the transfer portal, is he has played for 3 schools in 4 years. Not only do you have to recruit him in hs but u have to continue to recruit him while hes here.

the school thing with james is a bit overblown.

He started school at Pace - He's from Opa Locka (Pace is a private school in opa locka)
- He moved to Broward with Caregiver...and wanted to go to a private..(got in at American Heritage)
-His caregiver was a coach at Western...they recruited a good team and he went there to play for the caregiver.
-He is transferring back to Heritage to make a state run with them.

That being said...UGA lean

OLB or Striker. (if here)

May be able to play safety for a year or so at a school like Clemson. Not sure how he would do in UGA's scheme.

James is still sort of lanky. He also knows the game ectremely well and is always around the ball making plays.

Get rid of Panda before Rumph but I wouldnt mind all 3 out the door
Agreed. Baker can go too. I also understand why he didn’t want to change over 6-8 people after his first year. It is actually incredible how **** of a staff he put together, even considering his lack of a network or pull.

Yea just purely as a Safety im taking Kinchens. I like his game and he seems no nonsense.

I think Williams is gonna be a **** of a player just not at that position. The kid might be closer to Rosseau than a Sean T in my opinion.

What do you think of an Isaiah Simmons comparison?

You have any intel on a verified short shuttle? The comments I’ve heard for why he ‘wants’ to play Safety and how it’s explained he ‘should’ be a Safety are not all that convincing.

About 10 years ago, posters argued like **** top Safety recruit Alec Ogletree wouldn’t change positions. He was like 6’ 3” 210ish, but moved like a LB. Dont care how big you are or aren’t. Your position is determined by how you move your feet, change directions, etc. Shuttle is a hint, but you have to watch how the player moves and understand how those movements transfer to the next level.

Curious what you’ve seen up close from this kid.

????...now we're comparing a 6'4/240 top 5 draft pick who ran a 4.39 at the combine with 5'10/190 high schoolers with verified 4.68s?

“I feel like you need at least three years to actually turn a program around,” Kinchens said. “So I feel [Diaz] is on the right track to have a great year this year.”

But let's not listen to a person who's actively playing football and continue to throw a temper tantrum because we didn't go from 7-6 (with an ABYSMAL offense and our worst QB coach ever) to 97-0 in one season.

We lost to FIU and La Tech.

CMD went with the glass/glamour of Bama wanting someone (Enos) rather than his gut feeling (bringing in a true Spread concept OC), in Year 1 of being a HC he gets a pass on that because he IMMEDIATELY realized his mistake and fixed it by going with his gut on what O we should run w/Lashlee hire.

Baker, I will say he gets one more year (this year) and then we'll know what we have...although putting the DEs in pass DEF vs UNC was horrid coupled with the VT TEs scoring on the same play (twice i believe), our DEF held it's own prior to when our kids mostly gave up after the FIU loss. Diaz will make sure our DEs are not in pass DEF on 4th and forever ever again, and I trust he's relayed that to Baker as well.

I'm okay with the TD rings as long as we're winning....Turnover Chain would've been a flop as well had we went 6-7 instead of 10-3.
Agree, make the defense simple rushers rush, pass defenders defend the pass, the old KISS philosophy:

Ogletree was so stiff. Williams is fluid athlete and has great ball skills. (I think he can excel at almost any postion he wants.

2021 Miami Northwestern (FL) 4-star safety Kamren Kinchens released his top 5 schools today, and the Miami Hurricanes made the cut for the local star, along with Auburn, LSU, Texas A&M, and Nebraska.

“I feel like those 5 schools have separated themselves enough from the rest,” Kinchens said. “I put Miami in because, first, it’s home, and then second, because my relationship with them has grown so much, so I felt comfortable putting them in there.”

The Canes keep in touch with Kinchens every day, and the Miami Northwestern product said that his bond with safeties coach Ephraim Banda has flourished over the past few months.

“My relationship with UM has grown a lot, personally and as far as football-wise too,” Kinchens said. “I’ll get two calls a week and text with them every day. With communication, on a scale of 1-10, it’s a 9.

“Coach Banda keeps it real with me, saying he is here to build a relationship with me and that if he felt they didn’t need me, they wouldn’t be recruiting me. He says I will be able to play all over the field for them because I’m very versatile.”

Although the Canes stumbled to a 6-7 season in Manny Diaz’s first year at the helm, Kinchens feels UM is on the verge of breaking through in 2020.

“I feel like you need at least three years to actually turn a program around,” Kinchens said. “So I feel [Diaz] is on the right track to have a great year this year.”

Ever since Kinchens was offered by Miami back in February of 2019, he has been a frequent visitor to UM’s campus, last tripping to Coral Gables for their Junior Day event back in late January.

In fact, three of Kinchens’ teammates at Miami Northwestern are UM commits in TE Kahlil Brantley, CB Tim Burns, and LB Ja’Corey Hammett, and they have all been working to get Kinchens on board as a Hurricane.

“They tell me to come, that they need my help, that we can win a natty together just like we did at the West,” Kinchens said. “They tell me to make that move and that they know I’m coming eventually and I might as well get it out of the way.”

From the beginning of his recruitment, the 5-11 190 pound prospect has had his eyes set on making his decision the summer before his senior year, but with the coronavirus shutdowns altering the playing field, Kinchens is uncertain if he will follow through with that plan.

“I’m not entirely sure because I wanted to get some more visits in before making my decision because two of those schools (in my top five) I haven’t been to yet,” he stated.

In 2019, Kinchens had a monster junior season on the way to another state title for the Bulls, recording 74 tackles, 11 INT, 3 TFL, and a punt return TD.

“It went great, I had 11 picks so can’t complain,” Kinchens said of his junior year. “I feel like I showed my versatility because sophomore year I was hitting and catching picks in man, now this year I dropped back as a deep safety and showed I can do my thing back there.

“My mindset on the field is to just have fun doing what I love and giving my all for me and my teammates. My game is very similar to Ed Reed, but I’m just a rangy, ball-hawking safety that will take your best WR out of the game from the jump and still help control the run game.”

Since Kinchens compares his own game to Reed’s, what are his thoughts on the Hurricanes legend and NFL Hall of Famer returning to Coral Gables in the Chief of Staff role?

“It feels great to have a legend back on campus.”

Back at the Opening Miami Regional in February 2019, Kinchens posted a 4.68 40-yard dash, 4.40 short shuttle time, and a 31.70 inch vertical leap in testing.

Why all these northwestern kids have Nebraska in there top 5 and Committing to them as well ??

Patke was an absolutely inexplicable hire and is the weak link of the defensive staff in every facet. But he was also a Richt hire and don't think Manny is tied to him as much as some think. He hasn't landed a single recruit on his own, his special teams have been abysmal and his spot can/should be allocated to a more veteran coach/better recruiter.

Rumph and Banda landed 5 DB's this past year including three-4 stars in Avantae, Dunson and Harrell and two other very solid prospects in Balom and Clarke. They get a pass from me for now.

From his comments, it's going to take a really bad year from us for him not to come here.
We need a 5 star !!!! We could of got Henderson but got bandy instead , we got Ivey and blades but could of got surtain and Campbell , we got a 5 star kid Jason Marshall in this class who Whole family is canes fan and cut us off his list and James Williams of course, I know winning is a big factor but we can’t convince one to come ??

Great one.

James played some offense last year at Western and made plays there. He's just a ball player. Simmons is definately faster as he is/was a track guy (jamaican).

But James is the typical s.fla kid thats been playing the game at a high level since like 9. He likely at the same point in their careers has more football knowledge...simmons is/was definately more athletic. James would have no problem getting to the weight Simmons left at.

The difference is mind set....HE WANTS TO BE A SAFETY. You can kick him that LB or DE talk and he aint trying to hear it.lol

Clemson would be the best scheme fit for him really (The isaiah Simmons role is what he would do)...but i aint gonna be the 1 to tell em. I want him to be a cane lol.
I want us to show the **** out this season if we have one and shoot for the stars with James.

James also has a comp to

11 INTs? ****! Didn’t Francois set or tie the Dade single season record with 12 or 13 a few years ago?

It’s crazy. Frost cleaned up at MNW last cycle and he’s been all over this new crop as well. Their fans actively recruit these kids on twitter pretty hard as well, second to Canes fans of course. See those corn lovers all over Kinchen’s tweets.
