Patke was an absolutely inexplicable hire and is the weak link of the defensive staff in every facet. But he was also a Richt hire and don't think Manny is tied to him as much as some think. He hasn't landed a single recruit on his own, his special teams have been abysmal and his spot can/should be allocated to a more veteran coach/better recruiter.

Rumph and Banda landed 5 DB's this past year including three-4 stars in Avantae, Dunson and Harrell and two other very solid prospects in Balom and Clarke. They get a pass from me for now.

From his comments, it's going to take a really bad year from us for him not to come here.
A lot of people think balom is underrated. Patke might wind up leaving for a dc gig at a small school. Dunson Williams and couch are way better cb athletes than bandy and Ivey. I can’t hate on a blades lol

Patke was brought in as a GA/QC under Richt but is definitely part of the Manny Diaz “coaching tree”, if one exists. He’s from the state of Texas where both Manny and Banda made a lot of their staff connections and coached at small Texas school with Banda I believe.

Welcome to the board bossman. Banda gets a pass for bringing in Williams and Harrell who are potential studs. Rumph has missed on 50,000 guys during his time here but he actually hasn't done a bad job developing guys.

When? I'll contribute to the fund to get the roving billboard turned into Patke's moving truck.

We need this kid for both what he does on the field and how he'll improve what happens in the locker room. Also, With no chance at James Williams, I suspect all the rest of our top targets for safety will be non-local unless some new name emerges late once camps start up again.

Gotta keep LSU at bay or hope they have higher guys on their board. We also need Frost and Coley to just go away. Frost having a lovefest in So FL for some reason.

Didn’t some kids from last class already regret going to Nebraska from sfl ?

Apparently, we will find out very quickly how those kids like it up there when they have to spend a winter up there as opposed to rolling out the red carpet for them on a weekend. Also frost has to show improvement on the field just like us.

I don't mind when kids compare there game to a all time all pro athlete. That confidence and swag to say that. You build your whole life up to imitate one player to be like him and play like him.
For instance be like mike. How many kids grew up being super stars bc they watched mike be mike. I'm kool with it as long as you can play at a high level just like they did or even better.

That's why I styled my basketball play off Chris "Birdman" Andersen. Played balls out, played legit d, was athletic as ****, but not even close to a superstar. Except I didn't have the 498 tattoos.

“I feel like you need at least three years to actually turn a program around,” Kinchens said. “So I feel [Diaz] is on the right track to have a great year this year.”

But let's not listen to a person who's actively playing football and continue to throw a temper tantrum because we didn't go from 7-6 (with an ABYSMAL offense and our worst QB coach ever) to 97-0 in one season.
congrats on the dumbest take yet....

I know how crazy this sounds but ill take Kinchens over Williams. I know Williams has crazy upside but I doubt he finishes his career as a safety. Plus a real red flag to me, in the era of the transfer portal, is he has played for 3 schools in 4 years. Not only do you have to recruit him in hs but u have to continue to recruit him while hes here.
