The linebacker and brother duo of Andrew and Michael Harris are nothing short of playmakers. Playing at Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs, Florida, the two 2023 prospects showcase their speed, effort, and playmaking ability every time they step on the field. They've gained interest from top programs such as Miami, Auburn, Tennessee, UCF, FSU, Ole Miss, Michigan State, Michigan, and Penn State, among others.

The linebacker prospects line up side by side on the field and have the top-tier speed to wreak havoc on the opposing team's offense. They also are top-track talents who compete among the nation's best.

Andrew Harris, the 4-star linebacker, had a great season this past year, tallying 104 tackles and an interception for a touchdown. Andrew, who has clocked a 4.39 40-yard dash, describes the best parts of his game to be, "Blitzing and getting to the backfield as fast as I can before the ball-carrier gets to the line”. He says his "hitting technique and coverage skills," are great parts of his game as well as his love for, "Chasing things down and being everywhere."

The 6'2", 205 pound ‘backer is looking for a school that "feels like a family and has guys willing to put in the work while also having a good business education." He has spoken with Miami Hurricanes Defensive Coordinator Kevin Steele and Linebackers Coach Charlie Strong. He finds that Miami is "A very intelligent school that is hard to get into" and is excited to see "what type of defense they run and if the coaching staff is real and honest the whole way." Andrew wants his future home to know that he will "Get the job done."

Michael Harris, also a 4-star linebacker, takes pride in his speed and effort on the field. He stated, "I want to make a play every time I'm out there. As soon as I make one play, I want to make another. If my coach tells me he wants 15 tackles in a game, I'll want to get 20." Michael, a standout track athlete who runs around a 4.4 40-yard dash, is looking for a school with "Great academics and good treatment of their players. The school needs to feel like home and fit me well. I also want to look at the plays they run because I like to play inside the ball and use my speed to run sideline to sideline."

The 6'1", 190 lb (due to track season) backer wants whichever program he attends to know that he will "Most definitely bring effort and make plays by flying around, hitting, and helping teammates." Michael stated, "Even though I'll be one of the younger guys wherever I go, I will still bring that leader's presence and try to influence those around me. I will give maximum effort and make play after play. Me and Andrew have the urge to hit and keep making plays. I always have the mentality that I can always do better. I'll look back at the film and see what I can do better."

These two talents are guys to look out for as top linebackers in the 23' class as their hard-nosed, fast, and enforcer play styles mold perfectly with a "Kevin Steele" type of player. Their speed at that position is tough to come by, and their intensity and ferocity on the field will be vital to whichever program they choose. The position is one of need at UM, and the staff looks to build and stack the best talent it can get.

The brothers were just invited to compete in the Polynesian Bowl and will also be taking an official visit to UM this week. They plan to announce and sign on National Signing Day.

Saw them the other day. Very thin, I kinda did a double-take because I knew they were LBs, but when you see them without the shoulder pads, it's a bit surprising. I would compare them to Cyrus Moss, they'll definitely be amazing with a bit more weight.

You are correct in that the weaver twins weren’t your typical LB prospects bc neither player the position in HS but that’s mostly irrelevant bc we’ve signed many stand up rushers in the past who went on to become good LBs.

One thing weaver twins did not lack is quick twitch speed. Both kids were sun 4.4 kids and they were excellent special teamers that did not shy away from contact.
True but I was never addressing UMs historical ability to convert stand up edge rushers in high school to college LBs. I was specifically referring to the Weavers and how they differ from the Harris twins as prospects.

You are correct. The Weavers were insanely fast and were a staple of the special teams units of the time. It's just a shame that their athletic gifts never translated to production from scrimmage.

Lake Brantley High School is literally right down the street from my sister's house. I live closer to downtown about 20 minutes away but I will definitely make a point to catch one of their home games this year. Should be fun.

I graduated from Lake Brantley (a long time ago), my mom still lives in the same house where we grew up. One of my friends and classmates (and Pop Warner teammates) just retired from the head football coach job a few months ago.

That's awesome! I lived in the area growing up and would have gone to Brantley but we moved to Miami in 1980. I moved back in 88 and have been in Orlando since. My sister lives very close to Wekiwa in the Sweetwater area. We might be in the same age range. I'm class of 85 and Went to Dade Christian down in Miami. Before that I went to grade school at a Catholic school St. Mary Magdalene. Maybe we know a few of the same people.

I graduated Brantley in 86. Went to Mary Magdalene until they built Annunciation. We were too poor for private school, so it was Teague/Brantley for me.

My brother lives on the Wekiva off of SR 46 by Katie's Landing, but he also owns undeveloped land down by Wekiva Island.

Had a ton of friends in HS from Sweetwater/Sabal.

Yup, just depends on the individual. Frames on people are all over the place and height.

A lot of football players haven't even put on much weight for football to begin with to lose.
Yup this 100%. That’s where you start talking the 5 star kids truly. It’s not just production it’s body types and athleticism.

If you fellas went to JJ whispers I probably served you drinks. lol . I work at big daddys currently still slinging drinks.

Aside from the fact that Michael and Andrew are also twins there isn't much they have in common with the Weavers as prospects. The Weaver twins were basically stand up DEs at Northwestern who just rushed the passer. As LB prospects they couldn't cut it because they lacked the ability to effectively play in space, didn't posses the lateral quickness and they struggled to process the game from behind the LOS. In addition to that they just couldn't gain the weight or hold up physically. I believe Jermell Weaver was moved to safety his senior year IIRC. Met the twins after the 2000 spring game. Super nice kids. I hope they found success in whatever they ended up doing.

The Harris twins are a whole different ball of wax. Think speed, speed, speed and more speed. Elite quickness and explosion plus excellent vision and processing ability. Great instincts and phenomenal tacklers. Despite their size these 2 are super physical knock back tacklers and if they hit you, you are going down. I love the fact that they both play LB in high school and everything in these highlights is them processing the game and making these plays from LB depth instead of being a couple of standup edge rushers who can only play going forward. The Harris twins are twitchy and smooth with great ability both laterally(sideline to sideline) and in reverse. They both have the ability to play in space. They are also natural blitzers with a great feel for that aspect of the game. You can tell just by watching these highlights videos that they both love the game. They are both in the 200 lbs range but they seem to have the frames to add 25-35 pounds of good weight once in Feld's program. I know that ideally Mario wants bigger LBs with speed but IMO the speed and ability these kids would bring to the LB position cannot be overlooked and as I mentioned I'm sure that they have the right frames to add the necessary weight/muscle. Linebackers with this kind of speed, instincts, explosion, freak athleticism and hitting/tackling ability haven't been seen on Greentree in a long time. Let's get them here.
Jerell contributed at LB. He played a decent amount and played well. It's just easy to forget he was behind some all time greats like Vilma and DJ. Tell you what, he'd easily be our best LB if he was here right now.

Just also seen these kids really moved here from Jamaica.

For a Jamaican kid we have to be heavy leans for them if we want.

Current Jamaican kids on roster off head...Haye (dt) and Jahfari Harvey (DE) there is likely more.

Is it possible that we land 2 sets of twins in 1 class?. lol

I was going to JJ Whispers from 91-92 and had Hotties fallen outta my pockets....But picked up even more outstanding *** at FBI (Fairbanks Inn) during the same time frame....

I wonder how many LB's we take. Guess wel see who else transfers out. We already have Washington. Seem to have a pretty good shot at Hill, Bryant, Aguirre. Theyl all be battles for sure though. I would love to take 4. The group is in dire need.

3-4. We have Washington and look to be in good position for both Aguirre & Rojas. Close on those two then swing for the fences with Hill.

By the way, for any UM fans in Orlando, the twins work at the Crumbl location in Altamonte in the afternoons. I would not be opposed to letting these guys eat the extra cookies and ice cream (after track season is over, of course).

Hopefully we can get some Orlando Canes to visit the location over the next few months. Wear your UM gear.

Would be great if Feld could help these guys get ready to start for us. Definitely have the height/frame to add good weight.

Sunday and Wednesday night resurrection was just so much hot *** it was not fair. Friday night $10 all you can drink was nuts as well. I wish I could go back and do it all over again.

I think that we should prioritize the Harris twins, and not because I'm biased towards my HS alma mater.

They are both 4-star/Top 250 guys, playing in the highest division of FL HS football. Brantley is a pretty good and well-coached football team in Orlando and has made it to States a couple of times. I'd be willing to bet that these guys have excellent communication on the field, and it would be nice to be able to plug a couple of guys in who can call things out and move around without running into the backs of the DLs like we've seen for the past few years.

Nothing against any of our other LB recruits. I think Hill will be a tough pull out of TX. I'd be thrilled with Malik, PoPo, and the Harris twins. They made it down for the Spring game, I'll try to ask them about it next time I see them, as long as Crumbl isn't too busy.
