2026 Wide Reciever Tyran Evans announces commitment to Miami

The Miami Hurricanes have landed five commits in five days for their 2026 class with the announcement of WR Tyran Evans this afternoon, a four-star North Carolina product who was formerly committed to Tennessee.



A 6-foot-4, 200-pound force on the outside, Evans has been absolutely dominant — racking up nearly 30 yards per catch alongside 14 touchdowns throughout his junior season.

His hand catches immediately stand out on film both behind the defense and in short route situations. Those short route catches make his 27 YPC even more impressive considering it's not all just deep routes, he’s able to make moves in open field when defenders sag off of him, a sentiment echoed by how the staff plans to use him.

“They were just saying, like just by my size, everybody's gonna be scared. They’d be scared of me going deep so the short routes would always be there,” said Evans during his official visit to Miami.

And all of this goes without mentioning his ability to make the most of his size, able to high point contested catches at a high clip. He also uses his physicality well when it comes to blocking, with his competitiveness showing through with multiple highlight reel blocks on his film.



Evans was part of the 6/13 - 6/15 official visitors down in Coral Gables where he raved about Miami all while still being “committed” to Tennessee. I predicted that he would be one of the targets likely to commit to the good guys alongside California tight end Israel Briggs. Within the week a decommitment followed and here we are with Evans as the second wideout for the ‘Canes 2026 class and Briggs the first tight end.

Admittedly many will look at this commitment as the “waving the white flag moment” when it comes to the recruitment of top-end receivers such as five-stars Tristen Keys (MS) and Calvin Russell (FL), but Evans was a take no matter who was added to the room. The staff absolutely love his upside, especially the threat he poses with his size.

And while landing Keys or Russell is still key, these are the commitments that truly build your room as pairing either with guys like Evans, Lopez, Spafford, etc, means you have an extremely deep core group before taking the longshots.

With Evans’ commitment the Hurricanes now have eighteen commits in the 2026 class, joining QB Dereon Coleman, RB Javian Mallory, WR Vance Spafford, and TE Israel Briggs in the offensive skill position room.
