2026 Cane Legacy OL Canon Pickett announces commitment to Miami

Another piece to the “Wall of Mirabal” has been added today with the addition of Cane legacy OL Canon Pickett.



“It's kind of like a brotherhood here. Everybody is close. Everybody likes each other. It's just a good feeling.”

At six-foot-four and 320 pounds, Pickett moves with athleticism and the raw talent is there. I expect his strength to develop to truly match his raw athleticism as he slots into a guard position at the next level.

With both his father Booker Pickett Sr. playing for Miami and his brother Booker Pickett Jr. currently playing for the Hurricanes, it always seemed like a no-brainer that Canon would follow suit. And as I mentioned last week following his visit, he talked like a guy that was already committed.

“I mean, I've been here a hundred times, I've kind of seen a lot of this stuff, but I really feel like getting to be around the people, that's what's important … I'm definitely excited about Miami. I feel like it could be one of the best options. I know that they’ll develop me as a man,” Pickett told me for CIS last week.

UM beat out the likes of Clemson and Florida for Pickett, two schools that were aggressively pursuing him, especially the latter.



While many might worry this commitment may block out the possibility of a Breck Kolojay coming into the fold, the staff has made it clear it’s not a one for one deal as they hope to land both of them.

For now Pickett becomes the twelfth commit in Miami’s 2026 class, and sixth o-line prospect. He joins Jackson Cantwell, Ben Congdon, JJ Sparks, Rhys Woodrow, and Joel Ervin in Miami’s o-line room which I expect to be rounded out with Pickett’s commitment and Kolojay’s future addition.
