The youngest of three brothers who all play football, 2019 Mater Academy ATH Montavious Brini (6-0, 200-pounds) has been raised with family in mind. The oldest Brini, Dontavious, signed with Concord University in 2015. Montavious now wants to make the most out of the potential opportunity to play with his brother Latavious (2017) at the next level.

“We definitely want to go to school together. Basically everything we do, we do it for each other and our family. We keep each other going,” said Montavious.

Mater Academy played Columbus last week in their spring scrimmage and lost 28-14 to the Explorers. Latavious, who is one of Miami’s most sought-after targets at
cornerback for the 2017 class, sat out with a sports hernia injury. Montavious spoke about his team’s performance.

“We have a lot to work on, on both sides of the ball. We need to finish games better,” he said. We have some studs and we are excited to get the season started. Our team is really young and we are really excited to grow up together and learn from each other and maybe even go to college together.

Listed as an athlete, Montavious says that he prefers to play running back, which is the position he will play this upcoming season. Brini categorizes himself as a “power” back and has been offered by USC, Temple, Tulane, Louisville, Syracuse, and Mississippi State. Despite the attention from out-of-state schools, Brini explained that his heart is in Miami.

“That’s my dream offer right there,” Brini said. “That’s where all the greats came from. Miami is the place to be.”

Brini’s cousin, James King, is a sophomore linebacker at Miami. He said that not only does his mother want him to stay home, but King has rave reviews on the new regime
at Miami.

“He said he loves the coaching staff. I like the them a lot personally,” Brini said. “I’ve been to practice and I love the tempo of everything. Mark Richt is turning it back around.”

As for any insight into his brother’s current recruitment, the youngest Brini was tight-lipped.

“He’s really open-minded right now so anything can happen.”

How good is lil bro?

Edit: Watched the highlight video...honestly not impressed mostly because he isn't dominating and I'm almost certain that is JV.

Definitely a player. Tough to say what his ceiling is because his tape is against JV competition, but the kid has a lot of room to grow. Already 200 pounds and just finished his freshman year.

He is big for a freshman, will only get better as he gets older. I'm pretty sure Miami will offer next year

*Yeah it's jv*, but what do you mean he's not dominating they only stopped him once on the entire tape?

That, and he is in 9th grade. Will be interesting to see how big he gets.

I'd wait and see with the young man in the video. No need to make an early offer based on that tape. It's not a bad tape, it's just that it's highlights of a big kid running over smaller competition. That's not Brini's fault, but my question would be, why is a kid that is already 200 pounds, plays running back, and is a can't miss prospect playing JV?

I don't think anyone is calling him a "can't miss prospect" right now. The point is the kid has offers already, has the bloodlines, and is looking the part three years away from entering college. He is a guy to monitor, that's all. Especially considering his brother could be a Cane in less than a year...

At this point, I totally agree with "He is a guy to monitor, that's all."

Wondering if it's the competition that makes him look like he has Jet Speed against other players...Cant' be that bad with offers from quality D-1 schools at a young age..

Does this mean, we're absolutely getting Latavious?

Ahhhh, the good ol "dream offer" from Miami quote. Now to just confirm that the kid grew up a yuuuge Canes fan. No offense to Pete but that title just screamed Ferwoman to me. Good info on the kid though.

How are we looking with his brother pete? Too early to tell where he's leaning?

Does this mean, we're absolutely getting Latavious?

Of course it does. An innocuous interview with his brother pretty much seals the deal. If Pete can get brother Dontavious to tell him that Dontavious is a fan of UM then that will make it 100%.

His brother might end up at another position. He's a big kid. 200 pounds already.

Should offer him he will be good enough for sure he comes from good company also would help with big bro

Should have offered his older brother too even though he was only good enough to wind up at Concord University.
