Doubt we'll have room for him by that point. And given how FSU recruits, I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to UF by default.

Sorry but this is trash

How so?

Dude said 10 places were home. Just not an interview IMO that has any value when the kid keeps saying that every place is home. Kudos for the effort by Erick, sometimes interviews just fall flat.

Isn't Erick still in high school?

It amazes me and its pretty sad that we have grown men criticizing a high schooler for, I guess, not doing a perfect interview. You're complete trash jar4989.

Thanks for the interview Erick. It's good to see Thompson is high on Miami, hopefully this weekend seals the deal

Criticism is fine when it's constructive, but your comment fell well short of that. Telling anyone their work is "trash" is crass enough, but doing so without providing some specific examples to support your opinion of their work is unpersuasive, unproductive, and immature.

I appreciate you coming back into the fray in a (belated) effort to support your opinion -- a more cowardly person might not have done that -- but I disagree with your assessment. Although Thompson (like a lot of high school kids) appears to have shown some indecision and poor word choice in his interview answers, I learned some things I didn't know before reading this post: (1) Thompson has a top 4 of UM, FSU, UF, and UNC; (2) Thompson's mother (whose support is, by several accounts, critical to landing him) will be attending; (3) staying close to home is not that important to him; and (4) Richt is building a solid relationship with Thompson. Personally, I come to this site for information, and Erick contributed to that. On that basis alone, the article was a success.

They can't all go to UF... especially now that Callahan's son isn't coaching there.

What is the kid supposed to say? They get asked these questions and they don't know what to say so they develop rote responses, just like coaches spout typical coachspeak BS. No it doesn't really tell you alot, but there's nothing nefarious about it.

Says out of all the coaches recruiting him he's closest with coach dugans and calls him a mentor

My goodness there are some studio police on this board with all kinds of feelings. Erick is awesome and does great work - you don't have to qualify that by stating he's in high school. The point is the kid was saying that 5 different places were "home" which is kind of ridiculous, not even considering the fact the places he's calling home are arch rivals of each other. Kid is supremely talented and hope he comes to the U, but he wasn't giving anything in that interview. Unlike Marshawn, he wasn't going to get fined for not doing an interview. Either engage in the interview with Erick or just decline. Some of us actually have jobs and don't F5 this board all day long, sorry for the belated response.

Yeah keep doing your thing Eric, they don't want to see you winning man. You just starting in the game and growing

It just doesn't mean we have to celebrate the rote responses. For the most part, coaches are contractually obligated to do pressers etc - which is why you see the BS coachspeak. Speaking of nefarious, I had no intent of ill-will towards Erick and was looking forward to checking out his latest article. Just disappointed with the rote answers that seem to negate the entire point of the questions.

sorry if it has already been discussed as I wasn't on the boards yesterday and am just catching up today, but did he show yesterday? I know he was scheduled to be there

Sorry but I know some of you guys are big on him but I need to see him take a major leap this year to be excited about him as a football player. I do like his measurables and think he has the athletic ability, i just think he needs to figure out how to play real football when the pads come on

1000% agree. I keep saying Thompson isn't the player everyone thinks he is. I did see someone in the Orlando Opening thread suggest he could be used as an H/TE. Now that's something I could get behind.
