Looks out of place on d to me doesn't play like his size real soft in my opinion

He's not really a banger or hard hitter. More of coverage. They use him as a safety and corner.

So basically a taller version of Gerald Hollimon. Yeah..we don't need one of those. Doesn't like to hit. Just likes to intercept the **** ball everytime its in the air. Smh.

Don't try to rationalize with these dudes, Geo. They don't know what they talkin about.

What the **** are these coaches giving these kids to go to Louisville ? Miami or Louisville Kentucky. I just don't get, they have a higher chance of landing in the NFL at Miami.

It's not 2001 anymore... The entire 2014 starting backfield of Louisville is getting drafted. 3 of them were not seniors while Tracy Howard, a 5* need to come back for his senior year because the staph **** on his future...

Ah yeah, also, let's not act like Louisville didn't have a safety who tied the NCAA record for the most interceptions in a season last year.

Still plenty of size for a safety, its insane how good the 16 class can be

We're sitting on a gold mine of talent.

Cook lined up at cb for most of the game against Hoover last year and looked real good...He should be their MAIN priority as a db for this class..

Again he reminds me of Kenny Phillips..who i would take every year

I like Cook but can't figure him out. Would love to see more physicality out of him. Seems like he'd rather be a corner, but I don't know if he has the fluidity to do it at 6'4.

In the right scheme, his anticipation and ball skills as a CB would be ideal.

Unfortunately, this is not the best place for him as a DB.

Wants to be a corner but not fluid enough our fast enough at the next level

This. That's who he reminded me of in coverage when I watched one of their games.

Kenny Phillips wasn't exactly a thumper coming out, he was a sound tackler but as he matured and put on muscle over time. Became a lot more aggressive in his tackling.

Cook projects way better as a safety though. He can get away with it in high school but at the next level his future is at safety.

In his first season at Miami Central, 6-4, 190-pound safety Jamel Cook opened eyes. Cook impressed a lot of people throughout the spring/summer camp circuit, but his 6 interceptions during the season were what really caught the attention of those watching.

“I enjoyed the season, but I know I need to work on my hips and footwork a lot. I’ll be with my defensive coordinator this summer, Coach Gibbs, and we will be working,” said Cook.

The rangy defensive back says that Miami, Louisville, UCF, USF, and South Carolina are recruiting him the most right now. He also added that the hometown Hurricanes lead for his services.

“I like their secondary a lot. It’s between them (Miami), Louisville, and South Carolina right now.”

James Coley and Hurlie Brown are the two coaches from Miami that have been in constant contact with Cook.

“They keep it real with me. They tell me that if I come in that I will have to work hard for my spot just like every other player.”

Cook added that he would like to “wait it out” in regards to the recruiting process. He says that he wants to see all of his options in person before making a decision.

For now though, the Canes have put themselves out in front.

“I love the new campus at Miami and there’s a guy named Eric Josephs who showed me around and I really like how small the classes are and I will get to learn more. All I need to decide is what I will major in.”

Alabama, FSU, UF, Kentucky and Clemson all recently offered in the last five days.

He will be attending FSUs junior Day on the 21st

I'm telling you. I have a reason why I have this kid rated as my #1 safety in south florida.

Kid has a knack for picking off the ball.

Miami needs to get back in the lead again and lock him up.

He was at junior day for Miami..
