The RB position for the 2015 class is nowhere near set in stone between any of our 3 commits and it will continue to change as the next 5 months go. Cronkrite is one who will tell you the truth and not sugarcoat things but please believe our other commits are reaching out to other schools as well and are not interested in being part of a 3 back class. That's from various coaches.

JC made the comments about being unsure and the perception is that he's scared to compete. Whether the staff lied to him or not, there's opportunities for RBs to compete for early burn with Duke gone after this season.

You're part of JC's crew so of course you're going to say stuff to make the other RBs look like they're unsure too.

At least Cronkrite has been consistent and forthright in terms of his concerns. Walton said in an interview shortly after The Opening that he was 100% committed and not scared of competition. But then, a week or two later, he seemed ready to decommit and had Miami ranked third behind FSU and Georgia. Pete even mentioned in The Work that no one would've been surprised if he were to decommit. Walton came off as an unreliable flake whose commitment shouldn't be taken all that seriously.

I tend to believe Scarlett, though, when he says he's eager to compete as he did in the interview HurricaneGlory put up last night. He committed after the other three did, so I'd be very surprised if he doesn't patiently wait to see how the RB situation plays out.

The Walton reclassification confusion seems to be playing the biggest part in the uncertainty surrounding the numbers at the position. The sooner we get an answer about his reclassification status (or if he does decommit), the sooner the situation will become much clearer.

the pitch has to be split carries and develop all other skills for NFL..... NFL can judge talent and do not need a lot of wear on the tires..... wait till A>Collins is a junior with over 1100 carries(Arkansas) like ron dayne or any other Wisky back no trad on the tires

Lets stop with all the speculation! It is painfully obvious the kid wants to decommit, but just doesn't want to do it outright. He wants to give the impression he gave it all the consideration to seem like he made his decision based on other factors than competition at the U. Not like Spurrier and staff are gonna hand over the position to him.

Yeah you are right I'm saying stuff to make others look a certain way. If only you guys knew what really goes on in this process.

When I let out things I'm told that I'm making things up or someone who has significant amount more posts disagrees and the others follow. Certain things need to remain not known for various reasons. Some of the moderators can vouch for that.

I saw someone post earlier in this thread about reading these stories with the mind set of a fan and it will frustrate you because we want who we want on our team and we think how could someone not want to play here or why would they want to play at some other school. If you put yourself in these kids shoes or the family of these kids you can gain a little bit of perspective of how big this decision is for a kid. Some kids it's an easy decision and we as fans treat them better because they are true Canes and the ones who maybe aren't feeling us at the time we ridicule and say how much they suck and then we are in their top 5 or they actually commit and now they walk on water.

Me personally I don't put much into anything these kids say until February because they are kids and are easily influenced and change their minds at the drop of a dime. I've also spoken to a number of kids who check out their own stories on this site and read your comments and the best part is they realize 99% of you don't know what you are talking about and will never be in the position they are in.

Couldn't have said it better. These situations stop being about the teams these kids grew up liking and turn into where is the best chance for them to succeed. Can't blame a kid for wanting the best chance at being THE guy..

Exactly why I rarely rip the kdis and I think about what they and their family must be going through for the biggest moments in the kids lives. I can see why many kids decommit because it's not always perfect and our situation **** sure isn't which is why I always thought a rb would leave just seeing a better situation and also somebody getting into the kids here while nobody knows if he actually deep down knows what's best for him. Sadly everybody judges if they don't like what they see/read about the kid but hey his decision wont be factored in with what anybody here says

From a fans point of view. ..give me the best 3 at every position. . my team is deep and competition will make everything better... as a parent I want my kid on the field...its a natural desire. .. there is a relationship between Ice and Walton...I'm sure Ice is a professional and will put the best pieces on the field to win or he wouldn't be where he is...BUT there will always be a cloud of doubt about fair or unbiased competition...even if Walton won the job fairly...that cloud still will be hanging overhead. ..it will be uncomfortable situation for all parties involved... I could even see Walton not getting the job because the competition was too close and Ice would be concerned about appearing bias. That would be unfair for Walton. Mark Richt told me he didnt offer his son that played QB for the same concerns...both kids are studs and I want them both as a fan. ..but as a parent I want to help my child to make a decision that's in his best interest. These guys are warriors neither is afraid of competition...If Miami offeted 5 Ilbs for 2016 it wouldn't phase Shaq he would be like I'm gonna have some really good back ups...but I would be concerned and would direct him to the best choice

I agree. I don't think any of these four are afraid of competition. Kids do want PT and look a depth for that reason. I like all four of these kids. If Walton does get in I doubt if Ice will play favorites or that Al will allow it. Joe is starting after Duke leaves, so all this men will be fighting for PT behind him. Duke Johnson didn't start in front of Mike James. Al will start experience when he can and that is correct. Mike came back for senior year and got his NFL time. Their was plenty of talent in his way, Miller, Strom etc, but he is in NFL and looking good. I understand RBs want to get out quick and should, but maybe 1 or 32 stay, get degree, improve the skills that keep you on teams after legs get older. Cane RB have track record of long careers not just careers. I want all these guys but I want the one who are coming no matter what more. Give me a Craig Erickson any day.

Keep posting. Love your stuff. Most of us are a little weak on balanced point of view.

Funny thing is...you talk about parents. I remember a conversation with Craig Erickson's father a long time ago, outside the OB. I believe it was after the 1989 ND game. I have a recollection that he told me that he wanted his son to go to UF. That was right after perhaps his son's biggest win ever. Now that was 25 years ago, so my recollection is a bit hazy, but I have a distinct recollection of that. Good thing he didn't listen to his father.

He wants to give the impression he gave it all the consideration to seem like he made his decision based on other factors than competition at the U. Not like Spurrier and staff are gonna hand over the position to him.

You don't know what's going on his head. I think he's torn. He probably is very surprised at all the interest in us from other RBs which he didn't anticipate, including the possibility of Walton being in this class. He wants clarification. I think he really wants to be at Miami badly but wants to be in a situation that gives him the best opportunities going forward.

Makes heartfelt plea for people to stop speculating in the first sentence. Then, he immediately begins speculating in the second sentence.

Hey Token I got a question;
So does Cronk actually believe that the staff is "Lying" to him? Because that notion just seems stupid to me, just like how everybody is saying he is too scared to come here. I mean was he told we were only taking two RB's before or after it became a reality that Walton really could be apart of this class, however unlikely. I mean the facts are:
Scarlett seems like the most solid at the moment. I expect him to be in this class. Williams is a fight until NSD, but is being recruited more as an offensive athlete than just as a RB. Not sure who really buys that though because we all know he will be predominantly a RB. Walton was committed before anyone, and deserves for the staff to stick with him, especially when you take into account that he is a pipeline kid. But what happens to him, I believe will ultimately decide if Cronk Stays or leaves. Walton stays 2016, we get Cronk, He becomes 2015, We don't.
I doubt the staff will push anyone out, they are just going to let whatever happens happen. Seems to me Cronk might be rushing things though, and to me, it seems like all he has is time. If I was in his position I would take my 5 OV's and remain completely firm in my commitment until AT LEAST the season ended, but I would wait until I knew what Walton and Dex were doing.

Token has stated that Walton really won't have an impact. The problem is not Walton, but instead Scarlett and Williams. Sounds like Cronk isn't buying the Williams angle.

I know cronk personally, he wants to be at UM that's why he committed so early. He just feels that maybe this isn't the best opportunity to make it to the next level. That maybe he'll be forgotten behind some of the other backs. If he were to go to let's say West Virginia on the other hand, He may be their premier back. All this being said, He wants to be in Miami and it should be easy for the coaches to keep him here

Walton stayed committed but he was nervous because nobody was talking to him, and it was about a week before this whole Ice to RB coach move so thats probably why. But once the move was made, Walton came out with a new interview saying he cant wait to play for Miami. There was no other reason behind him being nervous other than lack of contact, but regardless, he stayed with Miami and now he is solid again.
