Zion vs Johnson

Zion and Williams are our best and most consistent offensive linemen, especially as pass blockers. They will hold their own. But can we run, and does #55 get beat on stunts and blitzes? I'd be a lot more worried about the matchup if FSU's d-tackles were their best as opposed to their d-ends. Marvin Wilson was a load to deal with last year.

Last weeks game! GT QB did well.. well enough to win. They didn’t play any defense though. UVA QB this year. Running QBs give us fits each year because we cannot tackle when we get to them. They always make the spy miss smh. We don’t stack the box VS them and force them to beat us with their arms. We play soft zone with stupid delay safety blitzes that never get there
Well enough to win? What game were you watching... it was their fewest yards in a game all year except against Clemson.

Their offense was trash against Miami.

Look im not trying to sound overconfident but isnt this the same Jordan Travis we played last year with us fielding basically the same LB corp? What is with all the JTravis concern? lol.

sounds like everybody locking up canes at -2.5? i love the over tho, feel like we should score at least 4 -5tds and i can see the d giving up 24 points max.

This is the match up that can decide this game
Who you got?
Im rolling with Zion
He’s been much better than I expected
I think Zion will seen a lot of 4..I believe FSU usually has 11 coming off the right edge. But that kid 11 is the best edge player in the ACC this year imo

How quickly have you forgot that Zion handled Will Anderson so well that he was relegated to playing right end 2nd quarter and beyond. Zion handled Patrick Jones and Reshad Weaver last year as well. He's nowhere near the most talented guy on that list. I'm more worried about keir getting 1 v. 1 with Vaughn on a blitz because they love outside blitzes.
Johnson is a different type Imo. Guy is good

LOL this is why you gotta take what you read on this board with a grain of salt. Sims had his worst game of the season on Saturday.

Be smart, folks. Use your own judgement, do your own research.

Imagine a QB completing 55% of his passes for barely 5 yards an attempt and negative rushing yards being made to look better than he is LMAOOOOOOO.
It’s crazy. That GA tech backfield was the best we’ve seen when it comes to a dynamic back..and good number 2 and a legit dual threat at QB. And the D held that in check aside from a couple big plays

I’m not saying GT is some juggernaut offensively. Sims is limited as a passer. But they were playing pretty well coming in and we indisputably had our best performance as a defense. Might just be a blind squirrel getting a nut, we’ll see. One game isn’t a trend. But to say we made Sims look better than he is, just say you’re drunk or clueless or both and move along.

Kier Thomas was giving fits to the best OT in the ACC on Saturday. Jermaine Johnson is very likely a late 1st round pick. It's essentially Roche and Phillips who abused our OTs in practice last year. If we don't have a plan for them it's going to be a long day.
I seen Kier Basically Bully their tackle a few plays and he is a stout guy who will be drafted in the top 2 rounds.

FSU sucks blahzay blahzay...but their dline is definately improved from last year.

Their DL is going to give our OL a huge problem unless we trap them to death. We can actually do this, but we use it as a sprinkle.

There is no reason to leave #11 or really any of our LBs singled up on Travis. Use KSmith or get creative and use Kinchens or AWilliams. Their offense is sincerely not complicated. If we get smoked in this game, it'll be one of the worst coaching examples I've ever seen.
We all know Flagg will be spying Travis lol Manny is too stupid to do anything else.

Also expect Corbin to break a long one because our LBs will be running in the wrong direction per usual.

He barely played from what I remember

And was used basically only to run

I remember thinking this kid could be a problem if he was used properly

Not that he’s a world beater or anything but it’s different than last year I think

6 sacks and 3 INTs definitely helped. And that’s not really been a strong point for us this year

We faced Jordan Travis last year in a limited role. He had some success running the ball (7 for 52 yards). We don't have the same defense as last year, but McCloud and Johnson have been playing very well in the last few games. So has Steed. I'd like to see Ragone get more snaps as he's played well in a limited role. He knows what to do and is decisive.

I would imagine FSU trying to scheme our LBs in space. The key is not letting Travis get outside in the run or pass. Our DEs will need to maintain their rush lanes and not push past the QB.

If we can get out to an early lead like Pitt and GT, but not turn the ball over, I think we roll them. The key will be forcing them to throw to try to keep up with our offense. If they're forced to throw it 25+ times, we blow them out. If they can run the ball and keep the game close, it will be a dog fight to the end.

To my surprise, we put pressure on Kenny Pickett and Pitt has a much better offensive line than FSU. I hope we stack the box and force Travis to beat us with his arm. Take away what they want to do and force them to beat us with their weakest links (passing and pass blocking).

Johnson and Keir Thomas against our OL with the added factor of noise (if they show up - I assume it'll be the same Miami-FSU as it always is regardless of records) and hostile environment. How is their cadence with TVD and are we going to revert back to the constant false starts trying to cheat a little and without being able to hear very well?

Also, TVD on the road in his most hostile environment yet. I'd be shocked if he doesn't have a come down to earth game at some point.. and even with his insane numbers, the last 3 games have been won by a combined 8 points. There's no room for that to happen and to get a comfortable win.

I feel like we're gonna have to sweat it out another week this year. We sweated out a few last year too then put up the 52-10 showing.. i guess you never know with Diaz at the helm.
This might be TVD's 1st FSU-Miami Rivalry game, but it isn't his 1st rodeo. He's played at UNC and Pitt. Both had large crowds. The key is to jump on FSU early and take the crowd out of the game. If our offense is clicking, we should hang 40-50 on FSU. We're scoring 30+ a game with a ton of mistakes costing us points. We play a clean game and we score 50+.

Lmao at Flagg (or any of our Lbs) spying Travis. You’re right - ***** is too dumb not to put a LB or even striker on Travis. Travis is a very good athlete and will be a problem for our defense running the ball because our defense is not built to stop running QBs. I’d like to see JWill used on occasion to be that Travis spy.
