Your ideal Miami Recruit

You're right his high school wasn't trash, but they didn't get as much national recognition back then like now with all the technology. SEC schools would be all over Reed today, boosting his rankings.

If remember correctly both LSU and Alabama was trash in 1997

Good speed, great agility, natural instincs, MEAN streak.

Commits to UM shortly after offer, says he is 100% committed.

Takes 2 officials to UM, one to FSU wearing UM gear and recruiting for the U, another official to florida to do the same thing, a fifth on the final weekend to UM to help seal the deal with others.

Pretty simple.

Think Duke Johnson, Deejay Dallas, Shaq, Lingard...

For Me

1. I would target kids from Large Metro Areas who have high GPAs. Usually High GPAs equal strong work ethics
2. I would look at the type of program he is coming from. Does the program he comes from routinely make the playoffs every year?
3. How many times did he transfer in HS. When and why did he transfer?
4. Is he a Multi-Sport Athlete
5. Was he a team captain and leader in the locker room.
6. Did he progress since his freshman year.
7. Does he play with swagger?
8. How much does he love football vs. how much does he love the recruitment process.
9. How is his home situation? Does he have strong role models around him.
10. Is he someone that wants to come in and compete vs. someone who is just interested in my school because of a favorable depth chart.
11. Doesn’t suck **** or think it’s ok to suck ****.

In light of recent events: one that doesn't commit 3 years out and "bleed orange and green" only to decommit for a bag

I want accurate, football-smart QBs with toughness, pocket awareness, and the ability to lead and inspire those around them. I want them to understand they are QB1 for the Miami Hurricanes and that the title carries weight and responsibility. And while the skill position players are out on an off day chasing tail, the QB is watching film.

I want RBs with great vision, contact balance, and the speed to break off big runs in the open field. Must protect the football. Soft hands and a willingness to pass block are a plus. No dancing in the backfield.

I want WRs with great hands that want the ball in big moments. Must be able to create separation (either through speed/quickness or elite route running, I don't care which). The ability for YAC is required.

I want TEs who stretch the field and are capable inline blockers. Must be able to drop a shoulder on a DB in the open field and walk over him from time to time.

I want OTs who are dancing bears. Quick feet, and long arms. Must be able to stay on their feet. No lungers.

I want OGs that are maulers and play through the echo of the whistle. Also must be able to stay on their feet. Must be athletic enough to pull and reach the second level.

I want Centers who love football, but also spend their free time reading non-fiction books about quantum mechanics. Smart, tough, agile young men who are intelligent enough to make the right calls on the line.

I want DEs who dream about knocking QBs out of football games. I want them to be relentless on every play. I want them to look like savages while quoting from Sun Tzu's Art of War (because they are tacticians who understand the value of setting up your opponent).

I want DTs with quick hands and power, and whose idea of their best play is beating a double team while the MLB shoots the gap to create a bonecrushing hit. Selfless,, hardworking players who don't take plays off.

I want LBs who can read and diagnose a play quickly, and do so almost instinctively. I want strikers who tackle through the ball carrier. Sideline to sideline speed and agility is a must.

I want CBs who are athletic, with a smooth backpedal and the ability to turn and run on a dime. And I want them to be more than just confident; I want them to be brash. I want CBs with short memories who never stop talking ****. And they need to be willing and able tacklers.

I want Safeties with elite ball skills. I want them to get mad when a WR has the audacity to come across the middle of their field to try and make a catch. I want them to make the WR pay in that scenario. I want game speed to close on the football (whether its through elite speed or elite instincts, I don't care). I want a willingness to come down field and hit.

And I want all of these guys to want to be Hurricanes. I want them to love UM the way many of us do. I want them to love UM so much that even after they get to the league and get paid, they still come by the IPF to watch us in the off-season, or catch a game on a Saturday at the Rock when they're playing the Dolfinas on a Sunday.
