nobody said anything about him, which is even worse compared to the stuff they said about manny. they didnt even want to talk about blake.

People make much more of this than they should. Wisconsin and Iowa pick from a lot of kids and they pick well because they evaluate well.

Plenty of talented linemen have come from urban and rural parts of the deep south. From Florida and So Fla. We've evaluated OL very poorly, but we've evaluated LB and WR probably equally poorly.

Also, keep in mind, Miami has done poorly on out of state linemen too, the past long while. How'd that Iowa kid (Dykstra?) do? Bar Milo was California. Brendan Loftus was Panhandle. All were terrible evals. The issue isn't that you can't reliably find linemen in Florida, it's that UM can't reliably find linemen anywhere. Were we to focus on Iowa and Wisconsin, do you think our current evals would identify gems, or we'd be eating B10 leftovers?
For the last decade and a half weve done a ****** job hiring starting with school BOT right on down to walk-ons.And it’s because of this top to bottom awful hiring that we can’t get out of our own way cause each bad hire causes the position below it to be a bad hire which causes the position below it to be a bad hire which causes the……you get the idea.

We need a BOT that will hire a president that at least knows we have sports programs or at least the 3 major sports programs whose revenue helps draw attention and with that ups enrollment for the WHOLE university.

We then need that President to hire an AD that has at least a clue as to what he’s doing and is hired because he is qualified from having succeeded elsewhere and not be awarded the job because he happened to be in the right place at the right time when his predecessor left on the spur of the moment for supposed greener pastures.

We then need that AD to realize that there are certain sports that drive the financial well-being for the entire sports division they are in charge of and put people in charge of these sports that deserve the jobs not because their daddy gives a bunch of money to the school or whose daddy has a lot of connections to the BOT because he was the mayor or because he happened to have had a little success at another school albeit several decades removed.

We then need those HC to hire people under them that are qualified for the jobs they are being chosen for not because they are friends of the HC or because they were at another failed stop before with the HC or because they had played at the school but because they have had proven success doing the jobs they are being chosen for within 10 years of their date of hire.

Then having supposedly been hired for a particular job because of their qualifications these coaches should be sent out into the world to recruit players that fit whatever positions they are being recruited to play.Not only because they carry a certain amount of stars or have a certain rating from people that for the most part have never played the particular sport they are rating players for but because they have been seen IN PERSON and EVALUATED IN PERSON and deemed qualified physically,scholastically and athletically to help achieve success at the highest level for the school by coaches that were hired because they were qualified to do just that.

Do all of the above and not only should we be rewarded with winning programs but we’d be rewarded financially from ticket sales,donations from boosters that are proud and want to be a part of the programs and enrollment increases from kids that want to be part of institution’s that have winning sports programs cause winning sports programs DO help enrollment which means more alumni which means more boosters which ultimately means more donations when trying to compete with schools with much more alumni and state funded programs.

Top to bottom people.Top to bottom.We do that and we aren’t changing people under each higher individual every 3-4 years because they were a bad or non-qualified hire that was doomed from the day they were hired.
 
Frenk at this point is just cashing checks. I know this type of boss, its the one that never arrives at work but always cashes the check. And as soon as there is some form of publicity involved, that boss is right at the forefront talking.

Everything under Frenk has regressed, both school and athletics. I dont understand why BOT members are on his side, maybe they get a decent chunk of change, thats the only explanation I have.

Evals is just a bigger more important subject than most folks grasp. You're looking at physical capabilities and potential to grow, skill technique and potential to improve, but also attitude, cultural fit, willingness to put in the work, football IQ, competitiveness, toughness, physicality, etc. And all that is just one half of the equation -- because it has to be applied against a detailed need-state assessment. Your needs in terms of bodies, skills, culture, positions groups, etc.

Absolutely. Not to mention trying to do that with teenagers.
