You Want To See Quality UM LBer Play??

And I think all 3 of the Bermuda Triangle were in the league for a decade or so - I doubt there are any trios from a college that can top that.
48yrs of watching CFB....and I've never seen 3 better ones on the field together at any time....and to be honest....
I'll put 91& 92 UM Linebackers....and add FSUs 91 & 92 LBers...and till this day there hasn't been 6 better on the field at the same time....I Loathe FSU....But Brooks...Carruthers and ShadeTree were the Absolute Truth...

Marley may not have been the best or biggest or fastest etc etc. But **** was he fun to watch play. He is my favorite all time.

Today's linebackers have their head spinning with all the reads they have to make.

Its just not the same game.

Bermuda Triangle is still the GOAT and I usually won't ever hear anything different.

For those that say the game has changed and teams play nickel etc: the Seahawks play base defense 90% of the game, and dont blitz much. And they fielded the best pass defense of the last 18 years, one of the best of all time.

They run cover 3 match all game, with some cover 1 and 2-read on 3rd and long.

That team was a dumb Wilson INT away from beating Manning and Brady back to back in the superbowl.

They were able to do this bc they ALL tackled, they had a simple scheme so players played fast, and they didnt over-blitz nor ask DEs to cover or LBs to pass rush.

Simple schemes, that play fast, with great players ALWAYS wins.

I wholeheartedly agree....and whats this BS about all these reads today's LBers have to make, that 90s LBers didn't??....LoL.....You think 80s and 90s LBers had it easy??...Tell that to the LBers who had to deal with The Nebraska's...OUs....FSUs....Penn Sts....UFs...of that time....

FWIW, the game has changed a lot. Playing LB is much more difficult today.

Obviously not taking away from the greats, just an observation.

Actually, Armstead and Smith would probably be even better suited today given all the spread and passing. Dudes were super fast. Of course they would not even get recruited by Golden because of his fat cow defense.

In that era of the 'Bermuda Triangle' Miami rarely if ever went to a nickel defense, even against a run-and-shoot team like Houston

Darrin Smith is a helluva nice guy. One of the fastest LB's Ive ever seen and a complete football player, one of our all-time greats that is overshadowed by more colorful and flamboyant players. But 45 is a personal favorite of mine

And Barrow in 92, was so great he got Heisman votes

Ironically, Armstead who was hampered by a knee injury and shoulder issues had the best career out of all of them.

In my view they are the best trio to ever play together if you look at the scope of their college and NFL careers

Huston coach said he knew they were in trouble when our lb(smith) covered there fastest wr all the way down the field.

The FSU games those years were showcase in lb play although hard to imagine any of the noles starting on our team at the time, except Brooks. Still not sure which of the triangle even he could have beat out.

Marvin ShadeTree Jones not only was the best of them...but should've been a Cane....Was killing it in the NFL before injury....Dude was frightening Good...

Tell UMs 83/84 LBers that Playing against Nebraska's Veer involved absolutely no reads....especially since Turner Gill had No worthy reciev......"Oh Wait"....(Irving Friar)

Those guys were insane. The Bermuda Triangle was a big reason I became a lifelong Miami supporter.

With that said.... offenses were so much easier to defend back in those days. Those guys would be elite, best-of-the-best in any era, of course, but the game has changed a lot, too. Crazy to think how good it would've been if Armstead had never got hurt.

Pound for pound Rohan Marley was a beast for an undersized dude.

Where do you guys rank Perryman among the all time greats? I think if he was surrounded by talent and competent coaching, we would be saying his name alongside the Barrows, Morgans etc.

Perryman is the best tackler I've ever seen at UM and that includes Ray Lewis. He was stuck in that garbage defense that forced him to make a million one on one tackles in space and he rarely, if ever missed.
