Keith Jackson said that he never saw better LBer play than UMs during 91 game....Barrows play was RELENTLESS in every single game above....

FWIW, the game has changed a lot. Playing LB is much more difficult today.

Obviously not taking away from the greats, just an observation.

Thats BS.....you simplify your Defense...JJ and Butch did it.....You think LBers had a field day with the Wishbone and Veer Options of the 80s and 90s??....

When you have a DC that Blitzes 2,000 times a game....1,500 for absolutely no reason....when your LBers MAIN weakness is Pass coverage is Pee Wee FB Stupidity.....

Those guys were insane. The Bermuda Triangle was a big reason I became a lifelong Miami supporter.

With that said.... offenses were so much easier to defend back in those days. Those guys would be elite, best-of-the-best in any era, of course, but the game has changed a lot, too. Crazy to think how good it would've been if Armstead had never got hurt.

Watch Darrin Smith play OLB.....
Then watch our guys.....Holler back....

In that era of the 'Bermuda Triangle' Miami rarely if ever went to a nickel defense, even against a run-and-shoot team like Houston

Darrin Smith is a helluva nice guy. One of the fastest LB's Ive ever seen and a complete football player, one of our all-time greats that is overshadowed by more colorful and flamboyant players. But 45 is a personal favorite of mine

And Barrow in 92, was so great he got Heisman votes

Ironically, Armstead who was hampered by a knee injury and shoulder issues had the best career out of all of them.

In my view they are the best trio to ever play together if you look at the scope of their college and NFL careers

Miami has had some great trio's in its time. Barrow, Armistead and smith are at the top. Other groups like James Burgess, ray Lewis and Twan Russell were good. Nate Webster, Dan Morgan and Chris Campbell. Jon Vilma, Roger McIntosh and DJ Williams were good groups

This is why I hear people talk about Shaq and Pinckney going pro early and just smh. There's no question they have talent and the potential to be great. But they are still FAR from matching what those boys did. I'm not even ready to put them in the Spence or Perryman category yet. And I say that with all due respect to UKnowWhat and the kids themselves. Love em, huge fan. But they just aren't there yet.
