Yom Kippur

I asked around this morning, but none of my buddies up here in rural North Florida were familiar with Mr. Kipper or his achievements.

We'll probably enjoy it like every other holiday and celebrate with a cookout and a whole lot of beer

#GoCanes 🍻

Lol. That guy… 🤦🏻‍♂️

Wait are @Unsider and @Hold My Beer Members of the Tribe?
No sir, I just like things tribal…seriously though, over the years I have observed and celebrated holidays with friends and spouses of relatives observing different holidays. I have attended places of worship of almost all faiths with those friends.

Personally, I am a secular Muslim. Secular, so I can have my medianoche sanbishes (ham), drink merrily at Christmas parties, and enjoy my 72 virgins on earth (Why wait, I figured).

The first time I had bacon was after a survival trip I took in ‘76, spent 6 days in the Ocala National Forest, eating food not fit for human consumption. Sunday morning, we arrived in Ocala (small town then), went to this restaurant filled with suited up church goers (Church was across the stree), while we were all muddy and soot-faced. I remember ordering four eggs over easy, eight strips of bacon, hash browns, corned beef, coffee and biscuits. Bacon never tasted so good after, I’m still searching for that taste!
