Yearby = Graig Cooper

Gotta give Yearby the edge here so far...times His cuts better, and I think He has better hands than GC. I don't think Yearby will ever be a consistent "take it to the house" back, but He can improve His long speed enough to where His break-away runs are longer.

For those who didn't like that comparison, here's the stats after their first 2 years:

Yearby - 291 carries, 1,511 yards, 5.2 ypc, 7 TD's
Cooper - 296 carries, 1,523 yards, 5.1 ypc, 8 TD's

Looks like a pretty good comparison to me.

You need to consider the suck aXX offensive line Yearby had to run behind.

Absolutely... No telling what this kid would have with even a d2 line.

he was faster last year. they bloated him up. richt will fix it. richt gets the most out of his backs.

To be honest they misused yearby all year... yearby should've been used like he was in the Cincinnati game last season. There is not a linebacker who can guard him one on one... yearby is a zone read/stretch rb who will eat 6 yds a play. Each game they use him correctly a few series... they drive to the red zone.... sub walton in and then.... you wonder where yearby goes for the rest of the game... i dont get it.

I'm not going to let the hb pass reflect him. He can ball anybody with a right football mind can see the elite skills... except our rock head coaches...

Yearby should've had 2000+ all purpose yds. A RB with his vision hands and footwork out the backfield should've had 1400 rush yd 600+ receiving. I don't want to hear about o line. That's on coaching to adjust during ball game and run plays that work and stick to it.

Coley really doesn't have a feel for the game. I think the main reason is because he never played the game. Just learned on the go. If he played the game I think we'd see results like a Jeff Brohm, Fuente, Babers. He needs to go to HS and work his way up like Ice did. Jumbo ain't teach him **** .

Yearby might be the slowest back we've ever had.

richt will utilize yearby the way he should. He’s an excellent coach for running backs

i don’t understand the hate for yearby though. He’s been mis utilized all year and given hand offs in the shotgun and delayed all year and is still one of only 10 total running backs in our history to reach 1000 yards WHILE sharing carries with Walton

Bulked him up a little too much going into the season. Richt needs to get him more cut and leaner.

Lol at Cooper being better than Yearby. That's hilarious! Not even close. Yearby is not elite at this point right now but he is a good back. He's not with the greats yet like McGahee, Edge, Duke, Portis, Gore, Miller, Ottis, Chuck. BUT he has the opportunity to get there with another year or two left. Dare I say Yearbys line was worse this year than anything Cooper ever had.

Yearby > Cooper as a runner and receiver.

Cooper struggled so bad to even move forward. Danced way too much and got nowhere. Cooper was OK to good. Only thing Cooper was better at was special teams which Yearby doesn't play here.

He hit 1k and was poorly used by James Coley. Had another 300 yards receiving and a couple TDs. I would say he had a great season considering what we were dealt with.

People gonna ***** to *****. I understand we lost but Yearby is not even anywhere close to the problem. I'll say that I'm pretty excited to see what Yearby and Walton will do with a REAL coach and offense.

That's mind boggling to me how you have a guy on your team avg over 5 yds a carry... yet you split carries with a guy who's avg under 3 yds a carry.... yeah I know walton is talented but only when catching the ball out of the backfield... him carrying the ball equally as yearby was a head scratcher all this year.

Good comparison. I liked and respected Cooper a lot. He wasn't the best RB to come through here, but he was pretty good. I hope Yearby gets faster, stronger, and even better next season.

If swasey isn't retained in the capacity he is in now then there will be hope for that. Other than that he will pretty much get by on natural ability and I don't see him getting much faster.

yeah I feel like it was more of a "hey come to Miami we will let you play a lot your freshman year" type of thing

I don't hate yearby at all but his speed is highly suspect. He seemed faster last year and at the beginning of the season.

How's that "Paul DiMare hired Butch" article coming?

I'm with macho on this. It's a wash. Very similar players. Hopefully yearby can get his burst back with some s+c in the off season.
