What are everyone's Year 1 expectations for Damari Brown?

Wish he was here in spring, but he's on campus now and has a chance to compete right away. Physically, he's already our biggest corner (along with Jadais Richard) and should be advanced coming from American Heritage. His senior film showed a huge leap. Here he is against Jeremiah Smith and the others at Chaminade:

I expect him to get playing time when the other team is going with 4 WRs. 1st out of the bench.

Needs to stay healthy but I like him heavy in the rotation and lined up ready to start year 2.

In my humble opinion, he's like one standard deviation from Tyson Campbell...which means I think by the end of his freshman year he should be a significant contributor if not starter at corner for us. If he is the real deal, this should be the standard. If he's not the real deal once he gets to campus...lets revisit in Year 2.

Brown Bros as our starting corners is a good spot, IMO.

Need to see how he applies "top two inches".

If his brains can match his brawn, good chance of becoming a "jersey guy" right?

If not, then a crap shoot.

What is encouraging is Big Manny's success in the "NFL body type" gets since his arrival.

I think he might be able to start by the end of the year and be dependable, if not he’ll be a starter by next year. He’s likely to get ahead of Graves and Curtis almost right away like Mauigoa. I’m excited to see what Damari will become.

I’d like to watch a few fall camp practices, but he’s got the talent to push for a rotation.

One thing I’ll say is that the room is coming into is much better than the one he committed to in December.

I’d like to watch a few fall camp practices, but he’s got the talent to push for a rotation.

One thing I’ll say is that the room is coming into is much better than the one he committed to in December.

He’s too talented in his ball skills to not play on obvious passing downs but his movement skills aren’t quite trustworthy yet. I think he plays about as much as bandy did as a freshman tho. I know in different roles but similar time

I’ve always thought CB is one of the more difficult transitions from HS to college. I think he gets special teams time and maybe a few snaps throughout the season but there’s a reason we brought in a few transfer corners.

If he gets more than 100 snaps this year I'll be surprised. Special teams and 4th corner is a safe expectation for Damari. Let him sit and develop. Play him in blowouts and prepare him to compete for a starting spot next year.
