Were you a canes basketball fan in the 80s?

If so, I hope it wasn't prior to fall 1985.

Otherwise, that would have been rather pointless, in more ways than one.

Grew up down here and moved to N.C. in 1981. Canes fans always give me **** for being a Duke Bball fan, but there was no Canes Bball in the late 70's and early 80's. Most of the current fanbase doesn't realize that. Still know that our best early player was old Tito though. A manchild in his day. Too bad we couldn't get his sons to come here.

That's my point. There wasn't even bball but these guys give you **** for cheering for another team you grew up liking.

They don't know what's up. You get on the bus in N.C. and they ask you if you like Carolina or State. In the 80's with no UM basketball team, you KNOW state schools are a bunch of bull**** (FSU/UF), so it's either Duke or Wake. Now UM fans backing UNC is despicable. They're the North Carolina version of U***.

Hahaha solid post

I talked trash about him the other thread not going to lie. I felt betrayed because I trusted him. But since he's back. Im ecstaticed. I guess he thought it didn't make sense because any other school enroll date has passed.

Thread shut your b*tch *** up... I like Miami football I'm 32 and I grew up in Baltimore City.. ..I grew a Georgetown Hoya fan... Lol at you trying to tell someone they are a half *** fan..... Thread you acting like a sucka.. I remember during football season you had some quality posts. Now crootin season done came and you acting like a b*tch... I still like the Hoyas and I still like the Canes.. f*ck you gonna do about it.

My mom works for wake forest. Has for 30 years. Grew up with season tickets.

Funny he and others are mad that I like a bball team that will NEVER EVER EVER win a national championship.

Wake Forest has a football team too, frontrunner. Or does your mom only work in the part of the school that likes the basketball program?

First Kamalu needed his hand held last year, now Wyche this year. Cot **** these middle of the road JUCO DTs make us ****ing work for it.

and the higher rated ones like Valentine just flat out leave. SMH. Cursed position for Miami football.

It's not that we are cursed.

The reality is that everyone with an IQ over 80 knows that stout defense starts in the trenches, and those players are highly valued.
To get a top tier DT takes money plain and simple.
Anyone who says different is just naive.
You have to pay for elite DT's and for the past 4 recruiting cycles we haven't been able to do that.
****, in reality we've never been able to do it without getting caught.

The reason why everyone, except the moronic Golden haters, think of Al as a top flight coach and recruiter is because they know that he is bringing in top 10 to top 20 recruiting classes at Miami and NOT paying a dime, when everyone else is ponying up the cash.

Golden and crew have landed 4 and 5 star recruits WITHOUT handing out stuffed envelopes.
Name me a coach with a top 20 recruiting class that can say that.

There isn't one who can say that without lying.

You idiots bash selectively without truly understanding the reality of the landscape.

Our crew is winning the recruiting battles with both hands and feet tied.
We've landed 4 good to really good DT's that fat envelope programs wanted.

I give them big kudos.

After sleeping on this situation I have to say that I'm really excited about this kid. Wyche showing that he has the work ethic to take those extra classes mean a lot. He would have to take the same amount of classes here, but we all know the difference between an unpleasant task and otherwise.

According to his Hudl, he's 6'4, 344! He's ready to play. He has big time offers from programs that use their DT's in a similar fashion. I have seen the light! I'm excited. We should focus on being excited about him, rather than losing sleep over TV. Go Canes!

I don't know what changed his mind but I will say this..
Cane fans showed up by the hundreds on his twitter after he broke the bad news and gave him
nothing but love and best wishes. It must have struck a chord with him because he retweeted
dozens of those tweets and said this afterwards..

One thing I can say university of miami fan= best fans in the country respect

This only shows you that message boards' posters do not represent the majority of UM fans. Most posters are not that nice.

Well we will have to rely on moten, Jenkins, and wyche. Don't think we get Galliard or TV.

Getting Wyche back is huge though, grown *** man that can come in and play from day 1.
