Wyche Decommited

Someone help me find a way to blame this on Randy.

Maybe because there has been no one in the history of modern-era Miami football besides Al Golden who has failed this hard at recruiting DTs

Not to mention the excellent historical track record of kid's decommiting from a particular school and eventually ending up there.

What about the history of kids decommitting from one school before signing day only to be replaced by another kid? We just don't know what's going on yet. This definitely may be a major fail and I'll join in jumping on it if that turns out to be the case. I just think everyone's jumping the gun a bit here.

Oh I know that history...and it always involves either a 2 star from Jersey or a hail mary that has no hope of qualifying.

And if that turns out to be the case, then this is a major fail. But, we don't know that yet. What if it were TV or another kid we covet more? Signing Day is around the corner and we don't know what things are moving behind the scenes. Letting it play out is reasonable. But, that might be asking too much here, given the itchy trigger fingers on here.

Itchy trigger fingers? Where the **** have you been for the last 3 years...or the last 10 for that matter?

This coaching staff is a joke.

Ah, I see, it's the coaching staff's fault that the ACC has that ridiculous rule and that Wyche decided he couldn't wait until May instead of coming in now? Of course. When you lost your keys, that was the coaches fault too of course. Stubbed your toe? Coaches fault.

Wasn't waiting until May the plan all along? Something must've changed.

Any idiot that blames the staff for this should be banned for being a danger to themselves and the intelligence of CIS readers - those that have any to begin with.

Who should we blame for not knowing the ACC rules?

They knew the ACC rules, and they tried getting a waiver. Wyche also has the option of waiting until later. I guarantee 100% that if Miami didn't offer Wyche because of the ACC rule you'd be bashing them for not trying to get a good player that wants to come here.

didn't he sign a letter of intent?

on a positive note, heurtelou was higher regarded by all recruiting services.

If you are eligible by NCAA rules and you are refused admittance by the school you signed with, the NLOI is null and void. That would make you a free agent again and you can sign with anyone.

The questions I would have is (1) is he still enrolled at the same JC and (2) if not, would he be eligible to enroll here in May (I do not know the ACC rule)..

But how long do they have to admit you? Do they have to admit you immidiately, or can it be for the fall semester? In other words, just because he couldnt get in for Spring, does that make the LOI void, or can it last until Fall and if he's not admitted then, the LOI becomes void.

If he met the NCAA rules to be eligible at mid-year, then he is free. If he didn't, then he would be tied up until Aug.

Seeing the same thing--people reacting very often before they should. If I had to react now, I'd agree with them based on what little we know. I just know that we don't have to react now and that we know very little.

I'm okay letting this one play out to Signing Day to see if there ends up being another guy in Wyche's spot and then seeing who that is or maybe to see if Wyche ends up sticking.

From David Lake...

Today JUCO defensive tackle Michael Wyche announced he was decommiting from Miami because he was unable to enroll early at Miami for this spring semester due to an ACC rule that requires JUCO transfers to be at the same JUCO for three straight semester.
Wyche is able to open up his recruitment because the NLI is not binding if he signs early and is unable to enroll early. He is now open game and must sign again with his future school.

Not like we have sh*t else of an option, I mean as much as this sux, the issue is fairly moot. Wether we knew about it or not, he wasnt going to be able to get in this Spring, and if he's not willing to wait til May, there isnt anything anyone can do about that.

Still, I kind of feel Pete's point here. This does seem odd. Not many other schools are going to let him enroll this late. So he would probably have to wait til May no matter where he went. If that's the case, then the kid is bolting because he wants to.

Wyche isn't enrolling early anywhere now. Is still in school at his JuCo? Becuase if he is we can still make a run at him.
