2027 Wyatt Smith 4* DE from STA Commits to OSU

No offense to that kid but can we bump our actual commits’ stats? Feel like there are a ton I’m in the dark about.

Don’t have X and a lotta their teams aren’t uploading stats on maxpreps until the year is up.

We made a decision longtime ago to focus on DJ Jacobs and Jaiden Bryant as far as DEs go then clearly wanted someone with more athletic testing upside and we found that in Dawson.

Even if this kid ends up being a draft pick I’m fine with passing. NFL father, none of the four p4 Florida colleges offered, and our dline coach would know more about STA DL prospects than any other college staff could.

This dude will be a NFL starter for a decade

I mean I don't know about all this at the moment, but yeah our lack of interest off jump was weird here.

Many on this board hinted he and/or his dad told UM early on he wasn't interested.

White STA kids can't wait to throw on a trapper hat and scrape ice off their windshields somewhere in the midwest
Makes you wonder what the deal is.
This kid picked OSU over IU and Missouri. That equates to zero chance he wants to play college football at Miami.
Not everyone is a fan of diversity. Look at the Bosas.

But Bosa Sr was from New Hampshire and his wife from Chicago area.
Not exactly white-bread America.
I do think people from Broward and upwards north tend to look down at the city of
Miami.
The city and area are not like anything else in the USA, for better and worse.
In fact, it can be intimidating for some.
Also, alot of these kids think its "cool" to attend a faraway school, especially kids
from upper middle-class and moreso if they are at a private school where many of
their peers will do the same.
I saw some of this when I lived in Maryland and northern VA. I have relatives in the area
whose kids wanted to leave the area.
Similarly, I have relatives in Long Island whose kids chose Maryland and Georgetown.
Strange world.
Lol.

Normally I agree with your posts, we almost always see things similarly, but I don’t know about the diversity thing. The Bosas are probably MAGA meatheads that aren’t too fond of some of us (outside of football), but Ohio State’s football program is easily as diverse as ours. Now the city of Columbus, the state of Ohio where I’m from, it really isn’t diverse or overly welcoming. So to that end, I agree with your statement. They probably feel more comfortable culturally than they would in Miami or Atlanta. I don’t care where someone is from, as long as they are family when they get to UM. My guy Rusty Medaris was from Ozark, MO, I believe and he was loved and beloved.
