Funny to think he'd be pouring all this loot into NIL if he was down to his last dime—as if this is how he'd spend.

There was obviously more money behind it. If you're building a mega-mansion, you don't just invest a boatload in the foundation and walk away. You pour in as much as it takes to build that dream house.

Ruiz was always in for the long-haul.

Getting wins would be nice, but there's still a narrative that can be told and sold even if Miami drops a few more this year.

8-4, 6-6 or 4-8—this was still Manny's team and Mario can sell the vision of what he's building long term.

Miami will need improvement in 2023; sending the wrong kids to the portal, getting more of the right ones as well as staff personnel upgrades to sell the vision—but as Cormani McClain just proved, kids getting on board with the program and the future aren't losing sleep over wins and losses in year one before they're even on board.

Kid literally committed days after this board was still in meltdown-mode after getting served by Duke.
