Wtf local media..

Sileo is absolutely right with his first part. The lack of stability and continuity I'm our program over the last decade and a half had absolutely destroyed us. You cant clean house and start over every 4 years and think youll be good (or even decent). Agree 100% with that.

The problem is, we haven't had anyone who is capable of steering the ship properly. Coker was a dreadful hire based on a mirage. Nobody with half a brain thought he would be a good HC; he was just the front man that incredible roster wanted so THEY could go win a title which they knew they could instead of someone like Alvarez coming in and changing everything. Randy, I honestly dont know why Randy was so bad, but him as HC was analogous to some form of quickly spreading cancer to our program. We were rotting at every level under him, most concerning with relationships with the local HS football factories. Al Golden was a horrible ******* hire. Had no pedigree, was a picture perfectly bad cultural fit and was in over his head from day 1. CMR was once a very good coach and seemed a great hire, but the game had completely passed him by and he refused to accept it. And now Manny. Last night in that first half legitimately felt to me like Manny's 0-45 vs UVA or 0-58 vs Clemson moment. THAT is what we came out with after two weeks to prep against a terrible team?!? Complete and absolute failure on literally every level. We looked like a D2 team that first half. Literally, not saying that as a joke. To me, that was the death knell for Manny Diaz. He just isnt it. Period.

So yes, if we keep tearing the house completely down every 4 years and rebuilding it, we will be stuck in a perpetual state of sucking. Agree. But what's the alternative?!? It ain't Manny, Baker and Enos!

Fvck!!! Fvck everything!!!!!

I wish I hadn't quit drinking. I could use a few hours slipped away into a bottle of good bourbon.
Well, I know we got Manny for at least 2 - 3 years. The trajectory of the program under him will ultimately be the litmus test. The regression this year is inexplicably dumbfounding, considering the status the program was in, when he was given the keys to it. All he had to do was continue to build what MR had going. I think a second year like this is grounds for termination for incompetence, and a teasing second year improvement buys him a third. If we want to talk about stability, the three years is more than adequate and fair to see where whether he drives this program back towards on to the road, or into a deeper ditch. Temple meanwhile, stands at 4-1. Think about that. I just slammed my coffee mug on the counter an broke it!

Miami is not a destination that any up and coming coach wants to come to. Crappy, empty stadium that's not on campus, no money for assistants and fans that still think we should be contenders every year. Those days are long gone and miami will never be dominant again.

Nah... Lots of "up and coming" coaches would take a shot with this []__[].
Money and an opportunity to do it your way. You act like these other plush gigs with deep pockets are bypassing the Stoops and Meyers of the world for some up-and-comer...

The Miami ADs also let the HC have full autonomy in Assistants, another mistake if youre asking me. We almost need an NFL style GM as the Football AD. Someone that vets assistants pedigree, throws out unqualified buddies & sons.

Gino Toretta was insterested in AD JOB...maybe he could ve been vetted as an assistant or something

The single major factor in the making of a great HC is hiring of motivated outstanding assistant coaches.
Any HC who fails to recognize this is selling snake oil.
This should be the primary requirement before signing any HC to a contract.... that their assistant coach hiring will be scrutinized.

Sadly no high profile coach wants this job unfortunately. All the major pluses work against us. The best recruiting base in the nation. Talent literally down the street. Why take this job when you can cherry pick talent from a bigger school that pays more money. Have to get the hottest assistant or up and coming coach. The big boys don't want to deal with the high expectations. Might be time to get an ex NFL coach who isn't afraid of the expectations. Marvin Lewis is available on ASU staff.
High expectations follow the "big boys" where ever they go. That doesn't scare them off. Do you think if Urban Meyer goes to USCw they won't think a national championship is shortly coming? Neither is salary. They won't come because the administration is incompetent and will work against them from day 1. It's difficult enough to turn things around once failure sets in, it close to impossible if people on the inside are working against you.

No more assistants, no more retreads. If Mullin truly wanted to come here, it was a colossal mistake not bringing him in. Where things stand now, an up and comer that has proven he can run a program (or a former Pro who has credibility and a long coaching tree ala Schnellenberger), needs to be found.

A show of hands, how many thinks James or the BOT are up to the task of finding one?

As an AD, you should always have a candidate list available for every sport. You should always be looking to either upgrade, or have a plan in case someone leaves. James didn't have that at all, and he should be held accountable. Jenn Strawley should catch some of this smoke too, because she is responsible for the nuts and bolts in regards to the organization of the department.

A new AD should have control of every hire in the department. All trash, especially the trash from a failed regime, would be disposed.

This thread had a 10 post exchange between a guy named “dude” and a guy named “canedude”

And that has honestly been the highlight of the Miami Hurricanes 2019 football season so far for me
