Wtf local media..

You know that coach up at UF? He wanted the job badly. Mike Leach is pretty high profile and would give his left nut to coach Miami. Cristobal would have left Oregon for his alma mater. Butch would coach the team for free. Heupel is pretty good and i bet he'd have left UCF. Lane Kiffin is 3-0 at FAU now, you don't think he'd have packed his bags for another shot? Those are just the head coaches. I havent started on the high profile assistant coaches who would leap for the job.

You are mistaking Blake James not doing a real coaching search and choosing Diaz after 30 min for lack of interest. There is plenty of interest.

Lane? Seriously?

- He isn’t 3-0 this year at FAU. He is 3-2.
- This is coming after his terrific 5-7 season last year.
- The man has failed at every HC gig.

How is he even in consideration?

BOTs are just collections of rich people who think that anything they touches will be magically great. A real evaluation of coaching options requires the involvement of people who understand the details of the college football landscape.

whats makes anyone think that any "high profile HC" would even want or consider coming to Miami at this point ?
Miami is not a destination that any up and coming coach wants to come to. Crappy, empty stadium that's not on campus, no money for assistants and fans that still think we should be contenders every year. Those days are long gone and miami will never be dominant again.

We should have hired another high profile HC, with the highest profile staff possible. Look at how serious recruits took us again, I know we werent getting the cream, but we were pulling away from the Corstal. Instead we went back to the bargain bin because Diaz & James are fishing buddies.
Sadly no high profile coach wants this job unfortunately. All the major pluses work against us. The best recruiting base in the nation. Talent literally down the street. Why take this job when you can cherry pick talent from a bigger school that pays more money. Have to get the hottest assistant or up and coming coach. The big boys don't want to deal with the high expectations. Might be time to get an ex NFL coach who isn't afraid of the expectations. Marvin Lewis is available on ASU staff.

He's better than Diaz. He actually won 10 games in a season twice in his career. His overall coaching record is 54-33. Thats a 62% win percentage, which is about the same as Dan Mullen. If you had to choose between Diaz and Kiffin, you honestly telling me you'd take Diaz? Kiffin wouldn't be high on my list, but he'd be cheaper and far more accomplished than Diaz. It would at least be entertaining. That's all I want out of the program now.

Let me make this very simple.

1. Being a better HC than Diaz isn’t an accomplishment. Someone is the smartest on the shortbus.
2. Lane is a failure. He is a known failure, to almost everyone (sans this board, clearly). He is coaching at FAU because that is where he belongs.

1. Miami was looking for a bargain priced coach (3 million or less). There aren't a lot of good options. I would take Butch over most others at that price, but if down to Diaz or Kiffin I'd choose the offensive minded recruiting chops over Diaz. It's a sh#t sandwich either way, but those are the cards that Blake James dealt us. Kiffin would probably suck too, but at least there is a tiny chance he is a better coach now after spending years working for Saban.

I actually think the local media is doing a fine job this time around. Mannys definitely feeling the heat from them and they're asking legitimate questions that they usually dont ask til Year 4.

Wow. I don’t think I can seriously respond to this because your options are not the options. Your options are options you created and your parameters are irrelevant.

You can ride the Lane Train all you want.

Stadium is not “crappy” wtf your talking about?

barry jackson has been going hard at manny since post UF. hyde was the one who refused to fire golden 3 years in.

Sileo is absolutely right with his first part. The lack of stability and continuity I'm our program over the last decade and a half had absolutely destroyed us. You cant clean house and start over every 4 years and think youll be good (or even decent). Agree 100% with that.

The problem is, we haven't had anyone who is capable of steering the ship properly. Coker was a dreadful hire based on a mirage. Nobody with half a brain thought he would be a good HC; he was just the front man that incredible roster wanted so THEY could go win a title which they knew they could instead of someone like Alvarez coming in and changing everything. Randy, I honestly dont know why Randy was so bad, but him as HC was analogous to some form of quickly spreading cancer to our program. We were rotting at every level under him, most concerning with relationships with the local HS football factories. Al Golden was a horrible ******* hire. Had no pedigree, was a picture perfectly bad cultural fit and was in over his head from day 1. CMR was once a very good coach and seemed a great hire, but the game had completely passed him by and he refused to accept it. And now Manny. Last night in that first half legitimately felt to me like Manny's 0-45 vs UVA or 0-58 vs Clemson moment. THAT is what we came out with after two weeks to prep against a terrible team?!? Complete and absolute failure on literally every level. We looked like a D2 team that first half. Literally, not saying that as a joke. To me, that was the death knell for Manny Diaz. He just isnt it. Period.

So yes, if we keep tearing the house completely down every 4 years and rebuilding it, we will be stuck in a perpetual state of sucking. Agree. But what's the alternative?!? It ain't Manny, Baker and Enos!

Fvck!!! Fvck everything!!!!!

I wish I hadn't quit drinking. I could use a few hours slipped away into a bottle of good bourbon.

They didn’t even know Richt was unhappy.

As an AD, you should always have a candidate list available for every sport. You should always be looking to either upgrade, or have a plan in case someone leaves. James didn't have that at all, and he should be held accountable. Jenn Strawley should catch some of this smoke too, because she is responsible for the nuts and bolts in regards to the organization of the department.
