WR Trevill Holcy

Very underwhelming to me.

We could've waited on this one.

Going up against small geeks in most of his tape, plods around the field, very slow. I don't see why we'd take him this early on.

Typical... This offer is to early and will ***** about offers being to late? Mope

I heard he picked miami because uf and fsu wasnt showing interest.

Even if that is true why does it matter? If Miami's staff wants him it shouldn't matter what UF and FSU's staff thinks.

Agree with you for once.
Plus, it's not like UF has a long and storied track record of recruiting and developing wide receivers.

And before you bring up Harvin, nobody could Fuuck that kid up. Harvin was and is just a special athlete/player.
I think talking about players before a coach was at the program is stupid. Golden had nothing to Shockey just like Muschamp didnt have anything to do with Harvin. Now Muschamp hasnt done well with TE'S / H backs since he has been at UF.

Back to Holcy UF had at least some interest in him. He came to a JR day a month ago but left without an offer. People skip over Paranos post but he had some solid info in this thread Holcy has a few issues such as grades test scores and an d discipline problems which is why some teams were waiting to offer.

The guy is 6' 5" tall.
Every db he goes against is going to look small. As for explosiveness, every one of his strides is like 2 for a normal sized person.

From his commitment photo, it also looks like he has huge hands. Might just be the perspective, but his hands look large.

Finally, we take him now because we offered and he accepted.

You haters seem to only look at stars, and forget that it doesn't matter how good a player plays or looks in high school.
What matters is how good they will be after 3 years developing in college.
You want players whose best potential lies down the road not players whose best occurred when they were seniors in high school.

Good get by the staff with a kid who had SEC offers, big potential, and lives in gator country.

This is the level this board is operating at now.

If you don't think every kid we add is the next Jerry Rice, you're a "hater." So much for evaluating a kid and discussing what we see, it makes some of the more sensitive posters like yourself a little miffed. "Hater" "mope" or any variation is a *** thing to say, and a cop out by whoever uses it.

Asking people to disregard what a player looks like and how he performs in high school is one of the oddest things I've ever heard said in recruiting.

And lol at SEC offers -- Kentucky and Ole Miss?

As to your assertion about stars, if that was the case, we wouldn't have been lobbying for Dowels or Cerenord. If a kid can play, he can play.

I don't understand the take at this point.

they must see something they like with him....as kid had an offer from signing day or maybe even before that. Add to it his stats arent good, so they must see something with his size and frame.
The thing is i can see what their loking for, but i felt like we received "this guy" in a better packaged form last yr with Njoku and Herndon. Those two are wayyy more fluid than him. I dont like Archibald @ te at all really.

He's a kid i would of offered "after the spring eval", and first few games of season to see progress imo.

We better add some speed to the wr core imo.....i'm in fully on Devante Peete, John Burt, Davante Phillips, Calvin Ridley at wr. And i know were behind the 8 ball on two of them already (Burt,Phillips) and one has severe grade issues.
I know we have put a prerequisite on size under Big G, but i dont want to become too plodding at the skills.

Still no Welcometotheu.

I bet staff finally got around to looking at his grades and ran it by admissions who maybe having a meltdown over them. Considering UM requires a minimum 2.5 GPA for football player admission. I think staff may be able to squeeze him by provisionally since he still has a year to raise his GPA and its so close.

Go Canes

Why can't we ever have an intelligent conversation on this board?

Because our fanbase is retarded?

I don't think it's all that. Some folks are definitely posting nonsense all the time. Other people are so busy arguing with the people who post nonsense that they can't anything of substance. Eventually it bogs down into constant name calling and sarcasm, constant mopery, constant superfanery, and complete idiocy.

Take this kid, he's an early take that is a bit unheralded. He's huge and with good hands, but doesn't have the speed for wide receiver. He will likely end up as an H tight end. The coaches took him too early, but considering the high school he's coming from the staff can retain the right to squeeze him out of the class later. Not an impressive pickup, but not necessarily a mistake. He will be a kid to continue to watch through his senior year to see how he develops.

The above is a summary everything minus the superfan stuff, the ridiculous negativity, and the never-ending arguments.

Still no Welcometotheu.

Maybe it's because the kid only has enough qualifying credits to be considered a Freshman?? Maybe he'll graduate at 23 years old, but we're trying not to miss out on him like we did Kelvin Benjamin. Does remind of Kelvin Benjamin a bit...LULZ

Kid didn't have an offer to commit to apparently.... Calling goldem today and being explained the situation.

Awkward convo

Haha...this guy sucks

And you're happy about that?

Happy that this is yet another step in getting Golden's fat *** out of here.

You seriously think this recruit will lead to Golden either getting fired or resigning? It's pretty ridiculous if you ask me. I also don't understand how a "fan" would be happy that our coaches are recruiting players who "suck", as you stated. Maybe you should join the staff and train them how to evaluate and recruit prospects. You seem to be pretty **** good at it from your recliner.

WTH, do you think that Golden has done a poor job handling our WR/TE situation?

I don't see a reason to doubt Golden's early evaluations when we make early offers...

Players that suck facilitate the exit of the coach.

How can you not understand that?

In my opinion, Golden will never be better than 9-4 or 10-3. Its not his fault, but his philosophies is what will keep him there. 9-4, 10-3, got Coker fired here...and the guy is a better coach than Al Golden.

THIS!

It's early. There is so much to time to adjust course on recruiting or accepting this kid. High potential kids (or diamonds in the rough) are the ones you accept early and then evaluate moving forward. Assuming the local politics allow it. Which they do with this kid.

Not that any of this seems to matter. No WelcomeToTheU; grades issues; perhaps not a committable offer. HANDS OFF THE RED BUTTON.

Lol love how people say this guy is no good or we took him too early....

Guarantee people wouldn't be saying this if he had an offer from fsu uf bama etc....
