If Oregon and Miami end up winning their games, will anyone be like "Well, IU got some portal visits lined up"? Yeah, and the distraction possibly cost them a game. I prefer the approach us and Oregon are taking here.

It’s not as complicated as you wanna think it is. And not getting a single commitment publicly when even other playoff teams have like 5+ each isn’t great. Missing on our top qb and not even getting a visit isn’t great. Not getting (apparently choosing) a top WR isn’t great. Choosing to completely ignore TE is imo horrible. Allowing the guy who others think may be our top target (perch) to visit one of the biggest bag schools around isn’t good. Maybe it doesn’t end with them getting him, but it’s more likely to end with us having to pay more if that’s the case.

I’m sure a lot of stuff is happening in secret. But also this has been the case over and over with Mario where he thinks he’s in the cia. It’s truly not that important for some of this stuff to be top secret, and it’s also just a fact that Mario operates VERY slowly.

like you can say Beck fell into our lap. Thomas and Scott were spring portal additions, weren’t they? Well there is no spring portal this yr.

The way we are operating in this portal is slow and risky imo. I’m not panicked but acting like this has been a GOOD start to the portal would be absurd.

I'd be surprised if a few aren't announced after the Ole Miss game, really think a few are done and just waiting be announced until after the game, then visits can take place next week when team back home, hopefully getting ready for Monday game

The other thing people are choosing to ignore is Miami and recruit a lot better than IU and Ole Miss. IU just signed the second full class of Cig’s recruits. So only one class is even on campus. He’s still in the roster building stage.

Miami and Oregon are afforded the luxury of working behind the scenes with stuff. And focusing later on. Will it work out in the long run? I don’t know. But if a kid calls Mario and he says let’s schedule a visit next week while I’m at home prepping for a home game for a natty and he says sorry coach I can’t wait, that’s on the kid.
