The 2026 season is shaping up to be one of the biggest in recent memory for Miami, and with expectations as high as they’ve been in years, every fan has their own priorities. Some value championships, others care most about rivalry wins, and a bunch just want to see the Hurricanes back on college football’s biggest stage like they once were.

So here’s a few “Would You Rather” questions to see where Canes fans stand:

1) Win the ACC but miss the College Football Playoff?

2) Make the College Football Playoff but lose the ACC Championship?

3) Beat Florida State or win the ACC?

4) Beat Florida or make the College Football Playoff?

5) Have the No. 1 offense or the No. 1 defense?

There are no easy answers. An ACC title would end a long conference championship drought, while a College Football Playoff appearance would signal that Miami is officially back. Rivalry games against Florida State and Florida always matter, but would you sacrifice one of those wins for a chance at a championship or a playoff run?

#1 Defense.

Defense wins championships.

I agree, & that is also directly related to having a running game.

It's more or less impossible for your defense to stay fresh & protect a lead, if your offense can't control the clock, & limit the number of possessions for the opposing team's offense. Running the football allows your team to maintain advantageous field position, a positive turnover margin, & instills a toughness & physicality that permeates throughout your entire football team because usually teams that are able to run the football, can also stop it as well.

In essence this is what playing complementary football represents to me: it's about maintaining the balance & interplay between all 3 phases on a football team. We can't truly & accurately assess the performance of a single unit without understanding the impact it is having on the other 2 phases. The reason why this is true, is because the whole of every great championship winning team, has always been greater than the sum of its individual parts.

For the life of me, I can’t understand why people care about winning the ACC? IMO it’s only relevant if it helps us in the CFP.
I would venture a guess that 90% of college football fans couldn’t even tell you who won it last year. But they can **** sure tell you who played in the national championship.
