Im not sure I agree with all this "the season is over" bullsh*t.
The season is not over. The Coastal is not some "murderers row", and still very winnable for us if we can get some offense going.
Am honestly not sure what to do with Williams. I mean if he comes back and is ready to go, and if he's looking the best as a QB in practice, how do you NOT play him? I understand Kaaya is the future, and Kaaya NEEDS to keep playing and getting reps, but does he need to be the starter for the whole season to do that?
Dorsey had to play a bunch when KK got hurt in 99, but KK still played once he was better, granted KK was not a graduating senior.
I think you can have RW play, and let Kaaya still get reps in to prepare him.
Putting the whole season in Kaaya's hands is a giant gamble. With Kaaya we really do run the risk of a 5-7/6-6 type year. Not his fault, but he's a TRUE Frosh, and Coley has shown he is terrified in playcalling with Kaaya, and not very creative or imaginative as an OC or playcaller. And that's putting it mildly. If RW will allow Coley to open up the playbook more and give him more confidence, then we need to play to WIN games. You cant just **** away the whole season already, because we lost 1 game. Now, if we have lost 4-5 games, then maybe it doesn't matter. But if RW is ready to go, AND he's playing better and more prepared, then you go with him. AS LONG as Kaaya keeps getting reps, his confidence wont suffer. Its not like he's being benched for his 2nd string. RW was supposed to be the penciled in starter before he was injured. Its also not like Kaaya is lighting it up. This is a learning year for him. The key is to get him valuable experience and let him keep developing, growing, learning, understanding the schemes, plays, etc. He doesn't need to start every game and get hammered into the ground behind this OL just to be ready for next season.
Dorsey had a few games and some reps in 99, and still came in looking pretty **** good in 2000, except for 1 half against UW.
