The thing about this stadium vs other college stadiums is how many people are in the concourse. With the roof over the stadium now its not as exaggerated, but there are still a ton of people eating and drinking and enjoying the game in the concourse. Don't know too many stadiums like that and I've been to quite a few.

I was at the game. The "empty" sections some posters refer to account for about 2,000 people. Anybody who thinks actual attendance was less than 60,000 is just wrong

I’ve been to 4 home games. I agree there are always a lot of people in the concourses. Valid point. If hrs holds 65k, I said it was about 60k actual attendance. Which is a freaking awesome turnout.

The skepticism was understandable, especially for us old timers. I was at the BC game in 2000. Identical situation. 2d to last game, we were ranked 2d, NC shot in or grasp, but had to beat an overmatched conference team with nothing to lose. Less than 50K announced, about 40K showed up.

I think that since the roof went up, we aren't seeing quite as much of the whole hang out in the concourse thing - outside of halftime, when the whole stadium practically empties out to the concourse.

Those expensive seats around the 50 yard line don't do us any favors in making the place "look" full. I think Ross did an outstanding job with the renovation, outside of that one detail. Wish those had just remained regular seats. It's too much empty space with those ridiculous loungers.

I've been to every home game this season. I've been to every home game for every season for the last 15 years. Section 102 Row 15. I know when the stadium is full and when it's not. If the reason there's a bunch of seats empty is because all those people are on the concourse or in the restrooms, how come those seats were all full during the Notre Dame game? I guess nobody was on the concourse during that game or the FSU game last season.

Seems to me like everyone who was actually at the game agrees that there was not 63,000 people there. I guess from TV the stadium looked more full.

I don't need to anyway, there's already a photo posted here showing the crowd. It was a great crowd for a noon Virginia game. More importantly than size it was loud. Even when Virginia was pulling ahead, the crowd was never out of the game. I stood for a majority of the game and that's also rare for one of these types of games. That said, if you honestly believe there was 63 thousand people there (when capacity is only 65K), I've got some property to sell you.

He's not on his own. I've made the same argument. Great crowd and loud crowd. But unless a **** ton of people were hanging out around the concessions or bathrooms at the same time - not within 1,000 seats of being sold out.

To be fair, that last pic was when they came out of the tunnel. Probably about 5 min before the start of the game. 10-15 mins later that pic looks a little different. Actual attendance was much less than tix sold. It was an awesome crowd and probably about 60k there.

Not much less. I figured about 5k less than actual tix sold. Either way, it was a great crowd and weren’t a lot of empty pockets of seats, even in the upper corners. The 200 level from the 40-40 were the worst, and maybe those people were inside.

I'll agree. While I think 63,000 is an exaggeration, there were definitely a lot more people there than I thought there would be. Certainly a lot more than Georgia Tech or Syracuse.

An SEC stadium would have been quiet (at best), and booing (at worst) the home team. ABC would go to a commercial and show a crowd shot and the Miami fans were on their feet dancing and yelling.

It was amazing.

The amount of confidence, by both the team, and the fans, is amazing.

I think you have a real shot against Clemson, and in the playoffs.

When the Turnover Chain comes out, its more then just a rallying cry for the players...the crowd pops so hard the minute a turnover happens...crowd just comes alive for those big moments. They pop harder for the turnovers then for the touchdowns.

On TV they went off with the pick 6! Can’t imagine how loud it was to actually be there. I had every intention to fly to ND game but didn’t. Might be biggest regret in my life. I’ll be at the Pitt game. Place will probably be dead. Might be more Cane fans there than Pitt fans.

I've been to plenty of of the big, loud stadiums in CFB...and honestly, the acoustics of the building with the roof make it just as loud as all but very few in college football at their loudest. Its the first true homefield advantage we've had since the glory days in the OB where its acoustics and the declining infrastructure made it seems like the structure would collapse with increasing volume. In the OB, it made it seems scary to be in the middle of it. This...you just can't hear **** and the noise feels so concentrated its uncomfortable.

Just out of curiosity, who's louder? and what stadiums does it compare to?

Louder...Death Valley, The Swamp, The Big House, The OB.

The comparison? I have not been, but I have to figure its similar to Husky Stadium because of the overhang it has which bounces sound back down to the field...which is what happens at the Rock.
