Not the reciever. Is this something their told to do. And all these wide open recievers because we constantly play zone. Not good. And CMR does not create clear pecise routes. And finally our running game is too predictable.

Back shoulder throws are incredibly difficult to defend. We were in a great position all night in man-to-man coverage and they made every single play on their back shoulder throws. Sometimes there's just nothing you can do on those.

I do completely agree with you about the precision in our route running. We aren't sharp in and out of cuts. Braxton might be the only one who actually gives head fakes or jab moves to set up his route.

I disagree. Our corners are poorly coached. You have to turn and find the ball and they failed on all 4 TD passes. Backshoulder, Fades, Post, Rub. If the db would have bothered to find the ball in either of those they either break up or intercept. Bad technique in coverage every play really. Hence why we don’t get off the field.

I try not to get frustrated when that stuff happens cause I know how difficult it is for a DB...
But at some point I have to think that we're not even being taught to look back. We haven't done it all season.

Michael Jackson has been the only DB to look back

Some of you don't understand that even NFL cornerbacks can't defend perfectly timed back shoulder throws.

This is also a brand new secondary. First year starters across the board.

We benefited from key drops all season -- like Georgia Tech on 3rd and game during their final drive -- and our guys made some unlikely catches. Tonight it caught up with us. I didn't think the coverage was so bad, other than a few plays. Wisconsin made the tough plays in tight windows.

Owens made the play of his career by dislodging that deep ball to the tight end.

I agree that Jackson is the guy who will dependably look for the ball, especially on deeper routes.

Y'all blaming coaches but the db's were out of phase all game playing catch up in the first place. Bandy had the only good position on one of those fades. The staff just needs better players. Redwine been playing by default since he got here.

I understand that perfectly. There is no defense for a great back shoulder throw.

This has been going on all year though, and they haven't always been back shoulder throws that we've failed to make plays on. Same thing happens when the ball is led in front.

Not really worried about this issue anyway. Those throws were extremely hard to defend. I'm more worried about how we play zone.

You guys keep talking about looking back for back shoulder throws like that’s even possible.

This is where you dudes expose yourselves.

The correct way to handle that is to play through the WRs hands. Our guys absolutely suck at that. That’s your issue. Turning back would actually make it look worse because it will create separation for an easier catch.

You turn back when you’re 20+ yards down field and the WR is looking up AND high. that’s what let’s you know you have time to turn - the WR.
To also blow your minds - it only makes sense to turn when you’re even with the WR....you don’t turn when you’re trailing.

You idiots just parrot the same crap each game.

Our guys don’t know how to play the ball when their backs aren’t turned. It’s like it’s not taught at all. They just flail like morons.

The best DB we had at playing through the hands was out

Talk to me about rumphs playing career. I remember him at Miami, always in trailing receivers and pressing and not much head turning. I remember being surprised the 49ers taking him in round one, was it is length?

Those weren't good back shoulder throws because they weren't really even to the back shoulder. That's what makes that pass normally hard to defend, is that's it's away form the db and on the other side of the wr. Wr usually reaches back or stops and reaches back making it nearly impossible to defend. 3 of the td passes last night were balls that were just thrown straight at the wr. Extremely dangerous throws that very easily could have been interceptions. Their wrs didn't even do anything spectacular to make the catches, they just caught the ball when it came to them. Our guys just didn't make the play.

I have been told repeatedly not to worry about Mike Rumph being an absolute abortion as a recruiter because he's a GREAT coach.

We can do better at so many spots on this coaching roster. We are operating at a major disadvantage with guys like Brown/Richt at OC, Richt Jr, Rumph, Hartley as STC, etc. Kul better be all he's cracked up to be as a technician, too, given the direction our talent is heading at DT. For all the hype, Clemson and Wisconsin just raped his line full of NFL players.

Miami should have a top 5 group of DBs EVERY SINGLE YEAR. That's the benefit of recruiting in Dade County. You can't let all the great recruits leave because you're a "great coach" and then have your guys out there looking lost.

You can disagree all you want. Turning your head to find the football is something taught since pee wee football. The techniques are miles better than they were with Paul Williams and yea Coach Rumph is teaching them turn their head...his CB’s were turning their head at AH when he was there, Trajan turns his head all the time, Mike Jackson turns his head, and so does Jaquan...Rumph can’t stop time and run on to the field to turn their head for them.
