I didn't need PFF to tell me that lol Just watch us play and then watch other teams. It's night and day. You can tell we don't tackle much in practice.
Question: I remember during Coach Richt first year, articles coming out about Manny's tackling philosophy, he wanted to change the way the team tackled to avoid injuries, something about tackling with your arms. He wanted to change the game and was supposed to be a great recruiting edge (less injuries)? Is he still teaching that? Are we coaching and practicing for Rugby but playing football =?
You do want to protect your guys from stupid injuries, but you also have to have some live action hitting. Most teams now hit maybe 3-4 days per week, with a recovery day thrown in. I don't think Miami hits more than twice per week and maybe for a couple of periods of practice. You need to have live tackling, you need to put people in game situations and see how they react. Is there an ncaa limitation on hitting in practice?
Why don’t they practice it more?
Can you hear us all the way back in the 50s? The Oklahoma drill is a joke, and there's a reason why most coaches have replaced it with something else. You can get far more use out other live tackling drills, than seeing who can deal with brain damage the best. Let me guess, hydration makes players weak....Oklahoma Drills should be a stable at the beginning of practice and at the end. That drill separated the boys from men. Boys will run to the back of the line, men would step to the front. You line up in that drill ***** footing around you’ll find yourself seeing clouds. You want to gauge your team energy line them up in that drill. Those who man up start them, those who ***** up bench they ***, simple.
I actually thought our tackling improved quite significantly when Richt took over. Maybe it was because Goldens players were now in a better defensive scheme, but tackling definitely improved from Golden's regime. I was pleased. I don't know what has happened the last 3 years. It's been in decline ever since Diaz became the head coach. I hate giving Golden any credit, but is part of this due to his players graduating? Now all of Richt/Diaz recruits have been here for a few years and suck at tackling because they aren't being coached correctly in practice. Doesn't make any sense to me.Question: I remember during Coach Richt first year, articles coming out about Manny's tackling philosophy, he wanted to change the way the team tackled to avoid injuries, something about tackling with your arms. 9Only shocking part is only 15 against App State
30 missed tackles. That’s insane. I wonder how many MSU missed? Didn’t seem like very many
Thanks man
Lol what do you think live tackling is? You want to simulate live tackling what do you do? Shed the block and make the tackle. What does that sound like? Call it what you want the principles are the same. You tackle with your head up you limit the chances of getting hurt. Fundamentals. Hydration shows you take care of what goes in your body sir.Can you hear us all the way back in the 50s? It isn’t so much the drill with the tire… it’s the technique.
When u tackle a ball carrier you need to get your head across the body. Watch Gurvan do the drill. He doesn’t get head across the body(tire). He’s tackling the trailing end.
No wonder guys like him and Carter are constantly falling off tackles. We’re coached to do so.
Manny celebrating an MSU missed FG in the first quarter like he just won the ******* Super Bowl tells you everything you need to know. We've got coaches celebrating things completely out of their control and deflecting blame for things they do control.Manny is on the sideline jumping up and down for simple first down catches, lol.. Its over.. @LuCane remember when dude says he watches film to see who on sideline is jumping up and down, we ****ed up..
