Head ref is Mike Defee. He was mentioned in the Federal Investigation of OLOL’s Funes. Defee heads a company owned by one of LSU biggest donors and works under/with Funes’ brother. They did a lot of work for/with OLOL. Defee is a pilot who was flying the indicted Funes on trips paid for with money from the foundation. I really thought he would have to take as step down from officiating, but there he was tonight. I was then shocked that ESPN said absolutely nothing about his involvement with LSU and Funes.
Total nothingburger non-story came of this. Federal judge assigned to case didn’t even look into a few hundred thousand dollars that were missing and Funes accepted the “lone wolf” role. Federal judge’s family trust was also a LSU donor and his brother wrote a book on LSU football. It’s a clown world
