Worst Miami team ever?

I have been watching Canes football since the 60s as well. I agree with you, but I have to say this season is my LEAST FAVORITE Canes team of all time.

2022 staff cost them a ton of money. They were expecting to win with these guys. Nobody thought this team was a 5-7 team week 1. This was a much larger failure.

I get it. And I'm definitely not arguing against 2022 being the worst season. I'm saying let's not undersell 2007. It's hard to remember 15 years ago

2007 Highlights:
- We lost 3 games by 30+ in 2007, including the 48-0 last game in the OB debacle.
- NC St - This was the infamous Kirby Freeman 1-14 game. Completing 1 pass in an entire game is low as it gets.
- FIU was 1-11 - we beat them 23-9. We struggled to score
- Duke was 1-11 - we beat them 24-14, and it was a tight game deep in the 4th quarter
- We went 1-6 over our last 7 games
- Our QB's threw 15 TD's & 20 INT's
- Our last 4 Recruiting classes were ranked 13, 13, 9 & 3. 2007 was probably more talented than 2022. A 9 win season was more the expectation.

For me personally 2007 was worse because we were a Top 10 team all thru the 2005 season. We were legit NC contenders. So such a step drop-off 2 years later felt worse. Now in 2022 - we've been so average for so long, I'm just not very surprised when we have terrible seasons

We did beat FSU & Texas A&m in 2007 - so we did have better wins

Clearly. 1997 was a train wreck with sanctions decimating the program. There was no depth and Butch Davis had to play a ton of freshmen.

2007 was an abomination. Coker’s poor recruiting had left an unbalanced roster with no chance for a first year coach (Randy Shannon) to win.

This year, Miami spent more on football than ever . They returned a Heisman candidate quarterback and most of a 7-5 team. Not only did they finish 5-7, they got blown out consistently. Most of their games were not even close The previous teams didn’t have the luxury of a transfer portal to retool a roster with.

This is the WORST year of Miami football I’ve witnessed

To make it simple, this might be the worst one-year combination of the highest "blue-chip index" with the lowest win total.

But we had faaaarrrr worse years in the 1970s.

Yep...Ive said this on a few threads. My first game attended was in 1978 at 7 years old. Even through the probation years, I have never seen a worse team from this program. I was so happy when Saturday came and went so I do not need to sit through one more second of this garbage. The only bad part about Saturday is they waited until 8:00 to kickoff. I would have preferred the game was in London or some **** and started at like 6:00am just to get it over with sooner. I still have faith in Mario but Im not getting suckered into excitement one more time by this program until I see 3 straight consistent years from them. Until then, it will just be appointment television for me and watching out of pure loyalty and obligation.
